Discussion: Action / Left 4 Dead - 4 on 4 matchmaking out on L4D1 & who actually loves VS here ? - For the most part, I don't play l4d1 anymore. Chet F. definitely hit it right,

    For the most part, I don't play l4d1 anymore. Chet F. definitely hit it right, the best way and the most fun way to play the game are not close to each other.

    I enjoy versus a lot as well, but my complaints are very similar to Morganan's. People exploiting level design, like the freaking elevator event in NM. When the survivors will just Shiva Stack behind the hospital bed, drives me insane.

    Do I love playing Versus with friends and using voice comms? Of course! I couldn't see playing L4D versus without voice comms unless you want to get slaughtered.

    Do I love setting up traps as the Infected for the Survivors? Heck yes! I may not be good at pulling it off, but the Infected team needs coordination to be successful.

    Do I rage quit whenever I think the enemy team is better? I've never rage quited ever! I take my defeats (and there are quite a lot of them) with pride. One time I was the only remaining member of my team after the rest of them had quit in the middle of the match, fought that one out to the end I did.

    Am I very good at versus? Not particularly. I suck at Hunter pouncing off of buildings. I normally can't seem to figure out the best time to grab someone as the Smoker. I suck with the Tank (can never avoid those mollys). I'm pretty good with the Boomer when I start to get in to my rhythm. But do I love playing Versus? Oh yeah!

    I love playing Campaign and Survival as well, but for those I like to play with people I know, and most of the people I know just like to play versus. I'm always willing to play a game if I have the time.

    Pounces for 25 are worth nothing if not executed perfectly and in line with the timing of the team. Ok the survivors lose 25 health.... and know now only 3 more infected can spawn, so they take their feet in their hands and make good progress.


    Better do 10-15ish Pounces with the ability to spawn in and be at the survivors in half a second. Couple that with another hunter and a smoker and you have a whole lot of heavoc.


    In short:

    Timing >>>> Big number pounces

    I get what you are saying, but it's damn near impossible when playing against good teams to even make a 4cap work anymore. Let me put it this way, we were playing with a cevo config and a full match setup, and the only round a team didn't get all 4 survivors to the safehouse was when I got the tank on DA1 and missed a jump and fell off the building, thus avoiding the only molly they had. If you exclude my clumsiness actually helping the team the entire 1 hour 11 minutes would have come down to health bonuses.

    Blah.

    I hope there is a setting that allows more zombie spawning every time survivors give ground up.

    I'm guessing so if the survivors clear an area and then run back to the safe room to combat a crescendo or Tank then they would have to encounter newly spawned infected? I like that idea.
