Left 4 Dead

Fixed a crash related to a Crash Course achievement

Fixed an issue were bots and computer controlled special infected were being reported via "View Game Info"

Added Team Versus 4 on 4 competitive matchmaking

- You open a Teammatch Lobby.
- Then you NEED to get 3 other people in. otherwise the matchmaking option is greyed out
- You click on find Opponent
- hopefully a minimal ragequit opponent is fuond and a VS game is started

There is also a steamgroup for matchmaking. I´m not in it but just informing

So to my second point. Who of you guys is actually into VS? It seems to me that a whole lot of people just play Campaigns and Coop. Or play VS mdoe to fool around.

But is anyone here really INTO VS? Likes to play with his friends and use voicecoms? Set up mean traps with the infected with wel planned timing? Not raging up when the enemy team seems better and see the match as "waste of time"?

I enjoy versus when I'm not playing against MLG players who have played for 80+ hours in 2 weeks.

I like coming up with the strategy and all, but I think it'd be better if versus mode was condensed... like, instead of [Lvl 1 Surv-Lvl 1 Infec; Lvl 2 Surv-Lvl 2 Infec;...] it would be more like level 1, saferoom acts as a break point, and level 2 is on the backside of the saferoom, then swap. (Even if the map switches, but survivors should keep health and supplies as they are to the next level. Or through the entire campaign that way)

That way, there would be a larger area in which the infected could work with rather than the wide-spread '3 hunter pounce at the same time if you're not a hunter do something kind of useful in the background'

I think L4D2's versus will appeal to me more when there aren't 3 hunters flipping around.

I'm really thinking of reinstalling l4d for this, as just 6days for l4d2... I might give it a shot...

I absolutely hated grief mode aka VS. Probably the number 2 reason I stopped playing L4D.

I like Versus, but like the rest of L4D, I wouldn't play it with random people.

I gave it a try last night. The first 2 rounds where versus teams that I think have no life. I did find the second team every player had played at the very least 80 hours in the last two weeks, and that is just insane.

However, my third game went a lot better and the teams where more equally matched, so I think it might have a chance. Note that if you run this, make sure you know how the rest of your team plays, it appears to be closer to CAL level then a bunch of friends having fun versus level.

Lyra, You can always find this infected rat sniffing around VS games and enjoys playing with people who are at least nominally competent (anymore and they're better than me!)

I enjoy VS more than co-op/single player, despite being called a FlipNOOB every other minute or so

But with L4D2 around the corner, I just want to play against new types of infected and in a new setting with new weapons

I really liked playing 8 on 8 VS. But as of the Crash Course update, they've disappeared.

I love versus.

4b4 matchmaking is full of competitive teams. I mean, guys who know every level better than what's in their pockets.
We got beaten silly couple of rounds by people who were just too good at versus. Every time you spawned they all knew from the sounds exactly where you were and killed you. Every pounce was a fail when all four of them turned up and shot you before you were even in mid air. All the bunny hopping and knowing where to throw the molotov from saferoom just so that it starts up the event in the middle of the map and beat it from the safety of the saferoom.
For the third campaign we had a team that we had good chances in beating.

Warning, matchmaking might not be for the casual gamers like most of us.

- Randomly ragequitting pubbies that leave at the first signs of the game going bad

.... or...

- Be molested by a propper team of 4 people that use teamwork

I love vs. mode, but I hate the way people play it. I don't want to make this into a l4d2 thing, but Chet most definitely has it right. The best way to play l4d1 is far from the most fun way to play l4d1 and nothing even remotely resembling how Valve had to intend it to be played.

To explain. I have some friends that still play l4d competitively and a bunch of us got together the other night to play a friends game on DA. Every cheesy camping spot was employed. Both teams triggered the event on DA3 and ran back into the saferoom. Both teams jumped the airplane on DA3 to shorten the trip. Both teams outran the event on DA4 then ran back to avoid the tank. Both teams used the cheesy spot for the finale. Hunter pounces were basically off the table due to everyone skeeting hunters. (Although I did get a pounce on the crossing into the offices on DA2 taking the survivor to the ground for an instant-kill) If it wouldn't have been an all-friends game I would have raged on DA4 for pre-lighting the tank and we were winning.

It's just no fun anymore.

Then you shouldn't play, honestly thats why I'm playing Dragon Age and DoW 2 right now because other games I play have stopped being fun.
