Well played it a few hours yesterday, but I did join a random pub group and listen to them talk about D n D for and hour. Kinda kills the mood!

Am I the only person here who is loving Scavenge? Already I've been coming up with all sorts of tactics with my friends such as the fake out. (Move to one side of the boundary box then at say 15 sec. you turn around and head the other way). I haven't lost a match yet and got some nifty achievements like Scattering Ram.
L4D2 was totally worth the money, I'm having so much fun

Re: Left 4 Dead 2 release
Yeah! Its great! I've played it more than Campaign because it's faster than versus and requires more teamwork. I remember one round, all my teammates were attacked by the enemy and they just left me alone. We did lose quickly because I was out grabbing gas and my team was at the generator. Don't know why they didn't go after my stupid loner tendency.

Re: Left 4 Dead 2 release
Is it me or is this game alot harder than L4D1? I was pretty decent at that game but I'm really struggling in VS with this one.

Re: Left 4 Dead 2 release
YES - this VS much harder than in the first part - then again you getting mostly paid by distance you make and only a small survival bonus in comparison.
Spitter does tons and tons of damage. Not even funny if you have zombies blocking the way out and goo under your feet. The most evil combo is Boomer / Spitter because you cant make out the goo till it´s basically too late. Chargers and even more surprising Jockeys have a HUGH knockback. The Hunter knockback has also been increased.
We had a really good VS team last night but still got eaten up in some rounds

Re: Left 4 Dead 2 release
FYI, while the boomer/spitter is a good combo, a little tidbit that isn't well known. The spitter does less damage to boomed survivors to kind of offset how strong that is.

Re: Left 4 Dead 2 release
Just FYI, it is near impossible to see goo while Black & White. The goo is only slightly lighter shade than the ground, so it's extremely hard to notice until you start getting hurt.
Start letting teammates know if they are on the 3rd chance and a spitter rounds the corner.

Re: Left 4 Dead 2 release
The Versus scoring? It's 400 for first level and +100 for every level. For example 5 level campaigns finale has 800 completion score.
Every survivor surviving is worth 25 points.
If there is tie, for example both teams survive on one map (and thus get the same score for that level), there's tiebreaker system that gives 25 points for the team that did more damage when they were the infected.|TG| Kebab-Kastike reporting for duty. | Why? Tubes! The internet is tubes!

Re: Left 4 Dead 2 release
The tick rate of the damage cycles are doubled. Instead of 3 ticks@1 damage, then 3 ticks @2 damage, then 3 ticks@4 damage, etc.
It's 6 ticks@1 damage, then 6 ticks@2 damage, etc.
Still worth doing of course, but it doesn't do the normal damage. I don't know for sure, but the "hard rain" sequences where outlines are turned off temporarily *might* do the same thing. Depends how Valve set up the damage check for the spitter, if they tied it to the boomer bile "event" or to the "sightlessness" event if you know what I mean. You can get around the change by spitting them booming, but it has to tick once on a survivor before he gets "boomed" otherwise it uses the adjusted scale.
Of course that only matters in versus or scavenge modes only, in co-op or realism the damage doesn't change.

Re: Left 4 Dead 2 release
I finally figured out the Construction Worker Infected's ability. You can't lure them away with bile jars or Pipe bombs.
