L4D2 Gimick - Characters won´t call each other by name till Elevator introduction
Well topic title says it all. When you start the first campaign that seems to follow up the Intro movie the characters won´t know each others name at the start.
Press Z and call out each other. Rochelle will call Nick "Hey fancy suit!" and similar things.
Try it !!!
Only a little later when everyone rides the Elevator and introduces each other you can call each other by name with the Z button. Really nice gimick Valve !

Same goes with the infected names. They won't call them with the actual names when you see them first time.

They actually keep doing this one too. On Dead Center 3 Rochelle was calling the jockey a "humper." Nick calls the charger a "big-armed thing" a lot too.

I was aware of this first time playing, but after playing it again with Silver I looked at Coach and did the "look" voice command and Ellis said "Coach" every time.

Coach seems to be 'Coach' from the very beginning; it's a nickname, but it seems that the characters will sometimes call him that from the start.
Also, Nick likes to call Ellis's name in a very backwoods, dumb-as-a-rock way. He's a jerk (and I love it)

Yeah, I never got to hear Coach's name during the intro. Odd.

When/If Coach dies Rochell asks "Do you guys know if Coach was his first or last name" (or something similar to that).

I listened to his intros. Most people call him Coach, but I think he forgot his real name because of it.

Then they said that they then decided to go with gambler background instead of the convict.
