Re: Left for Dead
L4D will probably be THE game of the E3 this year.

Re: Left for Dead
Did anyone else see EA's Press Conference? They showed a bit of Left for Dead.

I think you are missing one of the big points for this game....
The AI director.
The more ammo/health you have, the more bad guys you have to get through. (meaning it spawns more enemies and therefore need more ammo)
The less ammo/health you have, the less bad guys you have to mow down.
From everything I have read, the director will be controlling these events even in a 4v4 game. Now I'm sure there will be server commands to set the max amounts of weapons/health/bombs/guns available at each checkpoint, but the extra layer of strategy of not only choosing where to attack the surviviors as the boss infected, but when is what really gets me going about this style of game and the chance to play as a coordinated infected team. Do you want to attack the survivors when they have just rearmed and refreshed their health and are in a situation where waves of zombies have grabbed their focus giving you the opportunity if you are good enough to use a real ambush, or hit them when they are lower on health and ammo but more alert to an ambush and try and rely solely on your twitch skills to defeat them?
With the "randomness" of npc spawns being not really as random as it is portrayed, it allows for more of a non-linear experience which add's a lot of replay value and allows teams to get a "style of play". The survivors can choose not to rearm before they enter into a good ambush sector, allowing them to be more alert for boss infected since they know there will be less npc's for them to deal since the director's triggers for npc spawns are based off the survivors health and ammo and they feel they have the teamwork to make it though a tough section, or do they want to fully rearm and get their health up because they dont feel their twitch skills can compete with your teams and cant afford to be caught at 1/3 health?
Food for thought

True. But the one nice thing is the easy of map creation for this game. You just make the map, place the start and end points. BOOM. Done. You don't have to place monster spawns or anything else.
So I foresee a lot of maps for this thing, compared to a lot of other games like it.

There are checkpoints for rearming/healing and also respawn points for killed survivors, but ya, most of the map-makers time in this game can be spent making the map instead of all the other crap.

Re: Left for Dead
The delay had better not be due to the console version.
