WOW doesn't do that for me either. I hate games that don't have a death penalty/open pvp/some level of risk. Having said that, I got my beta key, so I'll at least look at what they did here with an open mind. I'm interested to see how they represent the world.

Look me up gunjunkie on Xfire or MSN. I'm Vulcan in game as well. Do tell your char name when you make one.

Doesn't matter for me GJ, i can create chars at level 20. Brandywine sounds fine, i'll meet up with you there. My main is on Meneldor with some other friends as well if you want to head there too.

Cool, I'll roll on Mene. I only got to 5 in brief session yesterday.

I must say first impressions are favorable. I doubt I'll play long term cause its not Eve ;p, but I like the look and the narrative. Doesn't feel like a grind either. I'm waiting to see what the grouping is like.

I got my beta key 2 days ago. Game looks and plays solid. I would agree its WoW with different skins. In fact it has more to offer at launch then wow did :P, such as PvM (WoW had no battle grounds up until june 2005, aside for pvp servers).
As well as little improvements that were made to WoW overtime such as quests appearing on right side of ur screen, or skills flashing when the cooldown finishes( this one was available via various mods, but not at launch either).

I am sure there are more little things like that, that are an improvement.

If I were an LOTR fan( I am not) I would play this game instead of WoW.

Personally, I am waiting for different types of MMO's now, such as AoC or PotBS, that offer great variety from your typical fantasy MMORPG.

Pretty solid for a beta. Love the story driven levelling, and I really like the non-cliched classes, and the fact that you don't have to have the archetypical groupings to succeed. It's pretty, and if you can get over the "omg, its WOW" initial impression, its actually a pretty good and fun MMO. There are some twists they put in there that make me think the combat and grouping is a little tactically deeper than WOW too. I don't see it being as successful as WOW, but there are a lot of very loyal Tolkien fans who will play this instead. I got bored of WOW in less time than I've played this beta...

    is this key still going?

I notice that there are supposedly 10,000 keys up for grabs from 5pm today at some online site, so if your key's gone I may have to try my luck there.

    Thanks
