I'd so be down. I'm pretty burned out of playing FPS at the moment. I miss the community way more than the game, so this would be a great way for me to keep things interesting while staying active in the community. At the moment, I bounce between BF3 and UMvC3, but I'd gladly substitute UMvC3 for something like GW2.
Can't wait for GW2. I heard open beta is coming in March-April, though some say it's completely open some say it's not. I'll be playing a lot,...with everyone...lol
Open for about two days, so don't delay if you are interested.
Godspeed.

After seeing the announcement that a console version is confirmed, I've pretty much bailed on this game anymore. I suffered through FF11 for a while, then cackled madly in the FF14 beta when the only way to efficiently move through menus and your character was to plug my PS2 controller back into my PC. I can't imagine how THIS game will work, unless they keep the gw1 formula of never being able to move on a Z-axis, etc.
<04:11:24> *** You are now talking in channel: "TFP - Task Force Proteus"
<04:16:25> "|TG-XV| Tralic": this channel is so gay
DICE needs to make a comical boxing glove attached to a spring punch the player in the face 40% of the time they get into a helicopter or jet.

I read that their focus is still on a kick-ass pc game, with the console version an afterthought I think. I signed up for beta, I love to try new MMO's out. In 2009 I went to PAX and got a majority of the devs there to sign the hardback version of the GW2 art book. Pretty cool. Hopefully the PvP will be enjoyable.
I know what you mean but I've read that the console version is being handled by a seperate small team, their focus is on PC. That said I cannot imagine a mmorpg on console lol. I have very high hopes for this game, if all turns out as it should this should be the 1 game I have always dreamed playing. Always been a mmorpg player at heart.
I am normally not a big MMO fan but I practically grew up on GW. I will most likely be playing a lot with old friends but I hope to see you all in game as well.
I've never played MMO's before, but the boss convinced me to play GW with her ("the family that slays together slays together"). Been on it for about a week now - with her help (she's got 39HOM points), I just reached lvl20 w/ a Ranger/Rit...
Last night was my first foray into PvP - played a few JQ rounds (as luxen), and one as kurzik in FA. I really like the 8vs8 format with the objective-based play - I'm still very disoriented and don't fully understand the modes/maps yet, but it's easy to imagine the kind of squad-comms/coordination we used in BFx translating well!
What guilds/alliances are you guys in?
(I'll probably get suckered into GW2 too... glad to see some TGers playing it.)
W6 sadly you came a little late to the game, but you would have loved 12v12 Alliance Battles back when they were popular. Think BF Conquest + Guild Wars, with you winning points for owning control points (usually around 7 on a map) and forcing opponents to wait for a respawn once you kill them. It took quite a bit of team-wide tactics to win and was a ton of fun. AB is probably the reason why I really started playing 2142 and got into this community in the first place.
Also, while JQ, FA, and AB can be considered soft-PvP, you should give RA, HA, or GvG a try sometime; those get extremely competitive and require a ton of coordination and teamwork to win.
So, did anyone play in the beta on the 27-29th weekend? Thoughts?
I was able to watch a friend play trough a bit with an ele. The play is very different from GW1 (in a good way, I think). The elementalist is able to quickly change elemental atunement in battle between the four elements (once he/she has played enough to unlock them all) which adds a bit of depth compared to the setup of the ele in GW1.
I am also a fan of your skills being dependent on your on and off-hand weapons. I was not sure if I was going to like it, but I think it works well, and it makes perfect sense they way they have it set up. For instance, having a wand or staff equipped gives you more long range attacks, while having something like a dagger equipped gives you higher damage but close range attacks. Playing around with these skill-sets will be fun.
I did not get quite as much exposure as I wanted over the beta weekend, but I have now per-ordered and will get my hands dirty with the next beta event.
Get excited, everyone. This is gonna be a good one.

It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:

Took a gamble and got a refurbished 30 GB OCZ Vertex 1 off of NewEgg for the low, low price of $30. Had some trouble getting the drive to be recognized by Windows or by my BIOS. Had to use a jumper...
It has been almost 6 months now and I am still waiting for the second peer-review report to come in for my next book (this one is on the future of television).
