Hey guys, just wanted to touch on a few things that I have seen and have had players mention to me:
Servers
We have two servers. If one is full up, grab a couple people and go populate the other one. It only takes 4 to start a mission, and once its started it will fill up quick.
Team Speak:
I have no problems with people being all in the same channel while they are populating a server (2-4 players), but once its starting to fill up you need to switch to the appropriate channels. We dont need 15 people in one channel all trying to talk at the same time.
Just because this game has swear words in it doesn't mean you can use them. All the normal rules apply here. That being said, we all let one slip. I do too, we are only human. However, I have yet to meet anyone that lets 6 "slip". Keep it in check!
Gameplay
Mach10 and I spent a good chunk of time populating Wolfpack last night, and once we got a handfull of players we started to play. The team work was there, comms were rockin, everyone was watching each others back. Then something happened. The server started getting more people and everyone stopped communicating and started smack talking and lone wolfing. We need to keep ourselves in check guys. The reason people come too TG is because of the way we play. Yes, I know the game isn't even a week old yet. But, if we don't keep things like this under control now, think of what it will be like 1 month from now.
Reporting
The admins and myself have the ability to monitor the server 98% of the time. We can kick, ban, even teams, you name it. Even with all of this we don't get any reports from players on the server. We usually don't even know until someone mentions it in passing:
"Man, you should have been here earlier snuffysniper was TKing"
If someone is blatantly disregarding the rules we have we urge you to use the !Report method and/or posting in the CAA thread. If we don't know, we can't help.
Rocket Surgery
Sometimes we all need to exersice common sense. If the map you are on is a very small Team Assault, or Sector Control do you really need snipers? I mean, when you can run from one end of the map to the other in 5 seconds chances are you don't. Keep it in check guys. Some of you were on the server last night when players got booted for using sniper rifles on Kunar Base during a Team Assault. Tell your team mates, let them know. Also let them know that if they don't push up and participate in the game with the rest of the team, they can and will be kicked. I think I removed 4 people in a row last night because we were playing Team Assault and they had never moved out of spawn. Instead they just crouched and started sniping. Thats not teamwork, and thats not Tactical Gamer.
The admins and I fully expect each and every one of you to help us enforce these rules and guidelines. Help police the server. If people join and they don't want to play as a team, fine. They will be removed so someone that does gets the chance too. We aren't trying to be all "heavy handed/power trippy". We just want to try and provide players with TG gaming. Once people start seeing that the TG servers don't put up with all the things they hate to see in game, they will start to migrate over and come play with us.
I think it speaks for itself that we have a top ten server already. There is a reason our servers keep getting populated quickly. And there is a reason we are all here. Lets work together to preserve and foster the gaming environment we love and have come to recognize as TG.
I'm just throwing this out there. I spent about 45 minutes on Neptune last night with a group of guys. I can't remember all the guys' names. Some of us were trying to communicate but basically there were two teams in the same channel when the server was full, and the majority of the talking was griping about the game and how people hated it. Griping about snipers, griping about campers, just whining in general. No team play. No tactics because no one could be heard over all the people having conversations about Counterstrike and whatnot. I don't even think half the people were on TS, or they left because they wanted to play the game not visit the EA forums where everyone is complaining about the gameplay.
A very different experience from the beta where we were playing Shahikot tactically and there was no side talk.
Perhaps this is just an adjustment period to the game, but I can say it wasn't very encouraging, especially if there were other people in the channel not familiar with TG.

Guilty. Later on (much later) we did split and were doing the right thing. I was just trying to learn the maps to be honest. The griping is natural with a game. Especially one that has some annoying flaws out of the box. Spawn points, for example, on really tiny maps are placed in full few of the enemy positions, with no cover closer then 10 feet.
That said, it is really good once you get people working together. Especially on the Combat Mission maps. Those are really really fun to play. Most of the game modes are good. Team Assault, not so much. I prefer objective based game modes. Where is Hot Zone? Did they take it out of the game? That and the "one life, no respawn" mode I didn't see.
Those modes have been confirmed, they just were not in release so they may be coming in a patch or as DLC later one. I will let you know as soon as I get wind.
I'm glad you ended up splitting the TS but it should have to be a "yeah, later on we started doing the right thing" type deal. You should always be trying to do the right thing. I know we all want to hang out and yell at Ven for shooting you in the face with a shotgun but we need to remember that is not what TG is about, and it is against the MoH TS SOP's. So lets see if we can start working on this. If we start doing this now, it becomes habit and we wont have to worry about it later on.
On the point of sniper rifles on small maps, does this include the battle rifles such as the svd or m21? I use these alot of small maps but with a red dot instead of scope, means I move around the map, it acts more like a single shot assault than a sniper
My name: Adept a skilled or proficient person Abyssa deep, immeasurable space, gulf, or cavity
So I'm a very skilled deep hole :D
I really dont mind those as much as I do kill hunting folk with the sniper......

On a side note I would like to see the TDM style of play go bye bye, seems to turn into a scattered roach fest when there is no "objective"

This,
I am actually going to start the sniper class just to get my G3, so I will be doing the red dot close quarter combat trick. Snipers in my book are fine if they take more of a recon role instaed of hanging back and going "pew, pew" from behind a rock on the opposite end of the map.....just get in the dang fight and contribute to the team!

Yeah, I have no problem with you rockin an M21 with a red dot even a combat scope as long as you are with your team. The minute you go hide behind the HESCO barriers and start camping the server will turn on you in the most violent of ways
Now, for game modes that have a clearly marked line of defense such as Objective Raid, Defenders may use the sniper rifles as this is the best way to keep the attackers at bay and at a distance. Sector Control I'm iffy on, because you could set up defense around one of the points....any input would be great.
Team Assault was added in at the request of several players on the server for more game modes. It can be removed, but that will take 5 maps/rounds out of the current rotation. Right now iirc there are 18 maps/modes in the rotation. Without Team Assault it will be 13. Is that ok?
Another observation that I see is the retard rush and lack of using cover,
since I can just die and quickly re-spawn, I dont need to use cover...
Something that has to change. What ever happened to bounding with cove fire?? Were using smoke more now, but the movement is something to be desired right now.

I for one think that's fine. I don't know how the rotation works exactly, but if we could make so that:
a)modes rotate
b)maps rotate
c) the very cool Combat Mission maps are spread out in the rotation
that would be good. Because last night I stayed on til quite late, and we only got to play Combat Mission at the very end of the night...and all three were in a row. A couple times we were going back and forth between that tiny Marketplace map and the map with the big creek bisecting it. Yes, there are only a few maps but I think we can mix and match game modes to keep it fresh.
Get rid of Team Assault. It's completely un-TG in my opinion. 13 maps with an average play time of 7 minutes means an hour and a half to play through the rotation, which I think is just fine. Plus, I think TA makes admining difficult. Because the only objective is killing, you can't really kick people for refusing to move. Lone wolfing becomes ok, because if the only point is to get kills, then running around killing is actually playing the objective. It's 2010. Deathmatch should be dead.
Hell, I wish they had a CTF game mode. Call it Intel Snatch or something, have the flag be a big black backpack full of documents. Coalition has to insert, capture the intel, and head back to the rally point.
I haven't shot a single weapon besides the M16 and M9 yet. I'm going to level up my rifleman all the way before I do anything else. Then maybe sniper. I like the support roles. Is there any place that shows you where each slot of upgrade will go?
Eight months later I finally received the reports from three peer-reviews on my latest manuscript with the University of Toronto Press. This will be my third book with the same press and the second...

Rage makes a great case for using the VR as a place for training as a sniper. Virtual training rooms for training in virtual warfare.
This post is a great TG read:
