Game alive
I was thinkin of downloading this mod and was wondering is the server is alive.
Former Cutthroat, established Merc.
Pain is Inevitable, Suffering is Optional.
When you can't run anymore, you crawl and when you can't do that, you find someone to carry you.

Re: Game alive
Somewhat.
With mass messaging, a little luck, and a lot of time, you can get the server up to classic. And if you are reallly luckly that day, 8 on 8 classic.
A lot of people have moved on to other servers because the tgns server has been empty. A few messages will often bring them running fast.

Re: Game alive
The server populates in waves that can be measured in months. We're in a low cycle at the moment, and this one was exacerbated by server problems that have been fixed for some time now (but that initially occurred night after night and caused people to drift away).
Even as NS grows smaller and smaller as a game (game-wide population), the same pattern always applies: people leave, figure out that little else in their meager lives is as satisfying as TGNS, and eventually return.Steam Community? Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.

Re: Game alive
I mostly play TF2 nowadays, but would love to get back to some good ol fashioned ns. I'll go ahead and join that waiting room group, if it's still being used.

Re: Game alive
I'd like a TGNS TF2 server.

Not just a TG TF2 server (because from what I hear that one isn't very good)
TF2 has definitely killed NS's popularity, and I don't think it will be back until either the summer... or when NS2 comes out.

Re: Game alive
Provided you aren't being sarcastic: have you ever played there? Besides, I'm sure a number of long time TGNSers who play on the TG:TF2 server from time to time might disagree.
That said, I've hit up the TGNS server a few times when I needed a break from TG:TF2 and I found that the quality of games and brutally hilarious losses hasn't changed much since I've been gone. The game has slowed down (after over 4 years, which tells you something about it's longevity), but it is far from "dead."

Re: Game alive
It's really slowed down a lot, but there are enough games going most of the time that you can find a decent one without bots. Hopefully when NS2 is within sight, people will start coming back to it.

Re: Game alive
Heh, haven't played on the server a lot, just assumed. You guys could have the server full 24/7 and I would still think it was empty.
