Re: Restart the old NS Server
Had a great hour long game today. I can't count the number of times aliens got 3 hives (with OCs all over map) and marines kept pushing back for a win. I think we took out the complete marine tech tree (AA, proto) at least 2-3 times to stall. Great game.
Will have to rename server to TG soon?

When the upper ok it, we can.
That game however was the type of game that I keep coming back to TGNS for. Despite how bad things get for a side, they still manage to fight back.
Near the end, the commander ( wyz ) was building 2 of everything just to stop us from stalling again.

Re: Restart the old NS Server
That game this afternoon was epic, in the true sense of the word.
I'll fix the AFK spam.
If someone has knowledge about how I can issue the "connect" command to clients (or the equivalent), please PM me. Thank you very much.

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.

Re: Restart the old NS Server
I talked to Wyzcrack a little in game. I can put up a server on my box hosted out of texas. I have plenty of room for a server to run. I originally tried to help revive a more competitive side of NS while in <BAD> and have my server tuned for scims/pugs. It normally runs at 1000fps which i can tune down for solid fps on a public server. If you guys want to use it let me know i have a few IP's. I can setup an ftp with direct access, you just might have to clean up the configurations of previous users which i'm sure you would want anyways or i can do a fresh install. The box is linux.
72.9.144.10:27015 <~~~ is the practice / pug server for an idea of ping. I have a couple up but only that one and penguin get used and they are mainly for people practicing so there is no load that will affect the main server. The box is a dual xeon with 4 gigs ram. I played on the one you guys are working on now and had no reg problems or anything like that but i noticed everyone had a higher ping. When NS2 comes of course i will be switching over like everyone else. You can do with the server what you like.

Re: Restart the old NS Server
By the way...
If we want to seriously get NS back to where it was troll players need to be shooed out the door before NS2 arrives. Nothing could be worse for the title than old NS players on an official TG NS2 server who give the wrong impression, like I got the other day. Problem players need to be identified and shooed out before NS2, or we'll have less new regulars, and ultimately less SM's.

The offer (and others like it from this thread) is gracious, and we thank you. I'll talk the options over with Wyz and the TG upper echelons (we might get some space back in house for this trip down memory lane to prepare ourselves for NS2).

It's only because Me, Dirm and Civilian late joined on the same team that one day that turned the tide for a Marine win. Could be wrong though.

Re: Restart the old NS Server
There was a full server tonight.
Dare I say? It Lives! It Lives!
Until a swarm of jetpacks with heavy guns shoot it to death repeatedly, if tonight is any indication :P

Re: Restart the old NS Server
I've tried all the server addresses in this thread and can't seem to find a TG specific server. What is the current address?

The address posted in this thread is accurate. The server name is the generic "Natural Selection 3.2." Its not a TG hosted server so you wont see any TG branding, but you will get old school TGNS quality of play from it.

Re: Restart the old NS Server
The TG branding is under discussion. We might even open up in-house again, pending some server shuffling.

Re: Restart the old NS Server
Had a packed server most of the night. I'd say the demand and players are back to keep the server full on a nightly basis possibly?

Re: Restart the old NS Server
Yeah, definitely.
At the risk of beating the dead horse (and I'm addressing everyone now), demand and player counts would mean a lot more if several non-SMs suddenly became SMs and voiced support for the idea of TG again hosting an NS server.
Stellar games tonight. Just superb.
Thanks, again, to NSPlayer for the server.
