I'm fairly new to NS2, but have been playing with you guys some and have a question: Are the language rules enforced? I am just curious, as there have been multiple occasions in the TG server when players have been using vulgar, racist, and homophobic language with admins on, and nothing has been done about it. Keep in mind I dont mean a one-time slip up, I mean a continual stream of it. Know that I am not trying to tell you guys how to run the server, that is entirely up to you, I am just curious as to if there is a policy to taking care of that. I have seen a policy on enforcement somewhere in the forums, but I havent seen it used, so I was just curious I thought if you guys ARE concerned with enforcing that rule, you would want to know that there is a lot of it going on.
Longer thoughts: Did YOU try and ask the player to curtail that behavior? It's up to everyone to help enforce rules, admins cannot hear/see everything at all times, and players should try and solve things at the lowest level possible before seeking admin attention. A simple "X, could you please refrain from saying y things, we don't tolerate that kind of language here." You'd be amazed how many people stumble onto our server and break some rule (they didn't know better) - but when informed of it, many of them correct their behavior. Now if they DON'T correct the behavior after a polite warning, by all means report it to admins or use the CAA forum.
Some guy had a name with everyones favorite 4 letter fword. Changed it when I asked, granted he busted my chops a little before he changed it to something more appropriate. I have seen very little slips and it tends to be easy to take care of people who keep up bad behavior.
I would try to gently correct it myself, but I wanted to make sure that its even an issue, because it would look bad if somebody with different tags (I wear different tags in NS2) asked somebody to do something admins dont have a problem with. Thanks for the clarification!
If there is an admin or temp admin on the server (they will have A> or T> next to their name), please make use of @ chat to contact the admins privately. I've detailed its use here.

Oh yes, I remember that man. A trite funny, but got his act together. :P
Even if the admins seem to let some "mature" language happen (racist/"rape"/"gay" and their ilk are always a problem), admins want to know when someone won't curtail that language which you've expressed as offensive. If you haven't expressed it as offensive? Why haven't you? If it's because you're concerned we won't have your back, do give us a chance.
If a player's need for language is more important than your enjoying yourself, do let an admin know. Words alone aren't disrespectful, but feeling entitled to them can be.
I'm more concerned with disrespect than I am most words.
I want to close this thread, as what I've said above should be the end of the conversation (which otherwise can have too many cooks in the kitchen in a hurry). But, I really don't like closing threads.
Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.
Bravo Microsoft, you have now surpassed EA in poor decisions and once and for all seized the crown for the worst 'Reveal' ever. That EA were standing there on the stage with you when you did it was...

It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:

Took a gamble and got a refurbished 30 GB OCZ Vertex 1 off of NewEgg for the low, low price of $30. Had some trouble getting the drive to be recognized by Windows or by my BIOS. Had to use a jumper...
