Re: Captains Back to elementary school we go
Just a note: Marine captain should always pick first. Its much easier than having to deal with Oddman.

Re: Captains Back to elementary school we go
Oddman is the plugin invented by Wyz to make joining players always give marines the odd man (or extra) ofter 15 seconds of game.

Re: Captains Back to elementary school we go
I did not invent Oddman.
I did invest the plugin which manages the enabling and disabling of it during a map to our liking.Steam Community? Add me. | Join #tacticalgamer | Search Results Legend | New Posts Forum Filter | Postbox Toggle | Live Thread Review | One Line Results | Free Remote, Encrypted Backup

Nope, I'm pretty sure that Wyzcrak is the "odd" man.
Well, the odd part anyway. Always had my doubts about the "man" part.
Wow, what did he do to deserve such treatment? Holy crap.--

It's not so much noob status that gets a person picked towards the end: it's being an unknown quantity. The more you play, the more you're allowed to say that you're picked last for being a noob.

Re: Captains Back to elementary school we go
the ONLY thing i see wrong with doing the whole captains thing happned to me when I first did the captains thing on the tacticalgamer server just the other day...
I was in the readyroom for a long period of time untill i was chosen, then i was present for a while during planning and etc.... and i was chosen as commander...
Seconds before the game was to begin... BOOM i get kicked... member joined.
I'm not mad at that though, the member deserved to have my place as he donated to support the server, but things like this might mess up games....
thats the only thing bad i saw. I'm not trying hard to be a pessimist, just pointing some future problems that people might need to know of before experiencing them themselves.Prejudice sucks:

Re: Captains Back to elementary school we go
We've had presented before the argument that commanders should be immune to the reserved slots. I announced at that time that commanders would not enjoy special status when the reservation logic is performed as a member joins.
Players joining a captains game can assume for their team the role of their victim just as quickly as they can in a non-captains game (for better or for worse).
Ultimately, the big issue is that it's more disappointing to be removed from a captains game than it is a typical game. While I hate it that much more when a player is removed from a captains game, I'm not going to code anything to lock the server or change the reservation logic during these games. Just as it is a bigger cost for the player being removed, so too is it a bigger benefit for the player who supports the costs of the server.Steam Community?
