Now I'm getting owned by Steam.
I got Half-Life 2. In the process of installing, I had uninstalled then reinstalled Steam, thinking it would fix a "problem". It didn't, but regardless, stuff works. I have HL2, original HL, and The Ship running. But for whatever reason, I take my old exe of NS 5.1, and it doesn't take hold in Steam's third party directory. I tried installing in other directories as well, no dice.

What is the order and exact filenames of the files you're installing in your effort to get NS to show up in Steam?

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.

Before you try and install NS, you need to launch half-life. It creates the cache files, and game directory. Load in, singled player, hit up the training room, exit, close steam and install NS.

Done. No dice.
Incidentally, the files are there, in exactly the same place as before. I had a shortcut from another folder where I built my sprays to the ns folder, which since it's a soft link, works.

Found it. I had two half life installs, ns was going into the wrong one. Now seems I have a bit of a mess to clean up.

haha! gg steam. Welp, good luck with that. Just uninstall what you've got, delete the directories, download the steam installer, and start from scratch. Good luck.
