Demos: TR vs 22nd
TR vs 22nd
Five .dem files. Some first person, some third person. All recorded by TR members. We play better than we film, so be patient as you view.
Many thanks to BAH|Azkar for arranging our use of the CAL server, admining the server while we were there, and ringing for 22nd when they couldn't get six. Honors also go to billybob, who quickly left spectate mode to assist 22nd when one of theirs dropped. Top notch.
There are several things to learn from both teams' performance. What to do and what not to do.
I'm biased, but I would like to point out how beautifully TR took down the alien res tower in South Loop at the beginning of our round as marines. Four marines enter the room, immediately knife the node without a single marine taking damage, then drop two skulks with heavy crossfire, again with no marine taking damage. That's good stuff there.
I saw several examples of both teams showing restraint in combat. When to engage, when not to engage. When to go solo, when to wait for backup. Great, great stuff.
Great job to both teams. That was some seriously enjoyable Natural Selection.

Was this from today? If so then it explains why the server was pretty much empty.

No. As you'll see in the names of the demos contained within the zip file, this match occured this past Sunday (November 30, 2003).

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.

Ahh ok. I never bothered to download. Something about watching people playing a game I could easily play myself bothers me.

I feel the same way, Ender. But it never fails.. if I actually force myself to load up and watch demos of other matches, I learn something .. something... every time.

Sure was great having the TR group back in action nothing like being able to totally rely on a teammate.

Agreed. I noticed some exception skulk action from both billy and Ema.

And redeye did well too.
Forgive me for focusing on the performance of my own team. I would be remiss if I didn't point out that I saw several skills and traits in the individuals of 22nd that impressed me.
The games were fun, but the demos are educational.
