sHeNaNiGaNz, there's not really any one person in charge of these slots. Ultimately, the admins are.. well... admins.., but the players have the power to decide who gets these slots.
If you play regularly on our server, use teamwork, and make it clear to the people you regularly see on our server that you'd like to be an RSR, I doubt you'll have any problem becoming one.

Well, the server is usually inactive during the day, so you can forget anything before dinnertime. However, after dinner, check often. The regulars usually start showing up around 7-8 PM EST.

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.

Not to contradict the infallable Wyz, but you can often (but not always) find at least a combat game before dinner time. Server activity does eem to vary quite wildly. Last week it was dead because CD was mandatory, but now its optional, although everything is subject to change.

Speaking of: how long does it usually take after you sign up to get access to a reserved slot/commands?

Re: Reserved Slot Regulars: a new approach to "public"
This program has been very popular, and it has been wonderfully successful at attracting quality players to our public server. There was a time when it was difficult to find enough players to have even a few decent NS games on our server. Thanks to the frequency of quality players at TG, we now have people waiting in line nightly to join our full server.
In an effort to continue the constant and subtle encouragement toward TG memberships among our NS players, I've decided to impose a moderate time restriction on RSR priviledges.
Effective immediately, RSR priviledges will be modified to last only one month, after which point the player may ask for a one-month RSR renewal (which will most likely be given to him). To receive the RSR renewal (the second month), the player must simply contact an admin directly and does not require additional or repeated endorsements. After the renewal has passed, that player is no longer eligible for further RSR priviledges. Tactical Gamer Supporting Membership becomes the only way to join a full server.
Players with RSR priviledges prior to May 2004 will be impacted by this change, with May 2004 acting as their first RSR month.Steam Community? So people can only have a reserved slot for 2 months, after which they must pay to continue their reserved slot?

Black, the RSR system is dead unless CD is changed back to optional.

Re: Reserved Slot Regulars: a new approach to "public"
Actually that's not quite true.
I changed the PSR plugin to not give slot reservation to players running CD if CD is required (as it is now). That means that players running CD are not presently being given slot reservation for running CD. That means that many players on the server, at any given time, have no slot reservation whatsoever. This, in turn, means that RSR is still useful.
There's a fair amount of discussion being held with regard to slot reservation. Some of it is public and some of it isn't, but all of it is in the best interest of the server and it staying dynamic and entertaining.
There are players enjoying RSR presently. Others are encouraged to participate if they haven't in the past.
Black, you're welcome to proceed with the RSR procedure (which does not involve you contacting an admin -- others do it on your behalf) if and when you would like to use the slot. Rainchecks, as you called them, aren't an option.Steam Community? No rainchecks? alrighty then...
I wont ask people to message admins for me, ill just let it happen naturally and see how long it takes =P I Really dont need the res slot that much as the server isnt full half the time, and i cant remember ever not being able to get on the server because it was full...
Though im telling everyone i know that plays NS about the server, so hopefully soon i will need the slot
