I have always seen regular pub games on any server as practice time. I pick something I need to work on, be it commanding, marine, or lerking, and focus on playing that for a while until I feel I've gotten something out of it. Just because I'm doing this doesn't mean that I'm not actively contributing to the game. I think some of you are acting like saying that "normal games are practice" is some type of heresy or something.

Adj, I'm sure no one objects to someone taking a "regular" game as an opportunity to improve without fear of "consequence."

When "practice" means "giving my team everything I've got and expecting them to accept it unconditionally," I'll agree that no one should object.

When "practice" means "giving my team less than everything I've got and justifying that with the argument that this isn't a competitive match or captains game," I'd sustain an objection (chong chong).

But, for goodness sake, let us not pretend that the average friend can't tell the difference.
