Re: Support TG in the New Year!
To paraphrase Wyz and answer Kero's question - give because you like TG and more SMs never hurts.

Well yeah, thats why I give anyway, I'm just always curious about these types of things. I am training to be an accountant after all.

But I understand if they don't want to share their financial information. Private info and such like.

Re: Support TG in the New Year!
Honestly, we don't have a very accurate way of tracking SMs for any particular game. The methods I have only provide very rough estimates. I do tend to track membership growth per game though. When a new SM signs up I normally search their user ID in the forums to see where they are active, the same thing happens when an SM cancels.
I'm working behind the scenes with Poker now to get NS a new box to play on that doesn't jeopardize the future of NS due to outrageous costs. Although, SM growth is always important and helps the community as a whole.

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.

Re: Support TG in the New Year!
Well, the best thing I can think of to continue to grow and support NS would be to proactively work to encourage the players to become SMs. Down the road a new NS will be out, be it NS2, NS:Source, whatever. Some players will migrate, some will stay with the original NS. This is the point in time when strong SM numbers make a HUGE difference. It's easy to end up in a position where BOTH titles fail either through the lack of a player base or the lack of resources to support both titles.

BTW: What i've been looking at for a new box is a dual core 3.4GHz w/ 2GB memory and 250GB HD.

Re: Support TG in the New Year!
I would think Demos, and other stuff.
Some demos of rounds are over 100Mbs.
Also it is not a lot. That is around average for today, (I think), my last HD I bought was a 500 GB(i really needed the space storing school related files), so I would not know what the average would be.

Re: Support TG in the New Year!
Most "school related files" are text files. So I'm going to go and assume that you mean buckets of porn. :P
A NS server takes up less than a gig. 250 gigs seemed like quite a lot for an NS server. You understand now, Lost?
'Tis not a personal computer we're talking about.
I also know 250 gigs is about average, and costs somewhere between 80 and 100 bucks. My question was why a server would need that much space, because it is a hell of a lot of space. Demos is a good answer... but 250 gigs still seems quite excessive.

Re: Support TG in the New Year!
I'd imagine NS would be smokin' on a box like that. Would it still be the sole title running on it?

Re: Support TG in the New Year!
Wouldn't it be less expensive to buy all the parts yourself? Thus giving yourself whatever configuration you want? Or do you have to get a server from a certain hosting company?
