Getting Booted out of Server..All of a sudden. - Page 2

thats very odd. As kero said, when you're in the server and mass people leave and they all come back saying "gg steam" or "STEAMED", theyre getting the same thing that happens to you. However, I've never seen it happen every time someone joins a team. I'm at a loss here.

There has to be a fix for this. If it can break than it can be fixed.
My thing is this. Is it possible that im on a different vers of HL or steam?

Can you guys tell me how to check that and what it is supposed to say?

Quick question.
If im on a router along with a second pc. Do I have to be in the 1st slot in order to update and see the router from my pc?

According to the info that paranoid gave from the steam pages they want me to update the firmware, which Might fix the problem.

OK Here it is!
I read the stuff about the router problems with Linksys routers and how sometimes you have to update the firmware, well I tried to do that but cant figure out how to see the router from my pc.

Anywho' I disconnected the router and made a direct connection to the Cable modem and Bam! No more getting booted.

So, by a small process of elimination we kinda have a Fix for the problem, both the .Cll problems and the booting to ns main screen.

Tell whoever it is to update the firmware using the link provided by Paranoid.

To all that helped...I thank you for your assistance and patience.
To the Head Honcho's...maybe you can make a Fix Section for known fixes to NS problems.

Sushi, the way you get into your router from your PC is to open internet explorer or any other browser and type in http://192.168.1.1

this will bring up a login/password prompt. the default settings for linksys routers is username: administrator, password: admin

Once you're in, look under the "administration" tab and you'll see an option to update the firmware. to update it, you have to download the latest firmware from the linksys website and then select it from the location you downloaded it to once you're ready (on the update firmware page for the router). This should solve all your problems.

However, if you're the only computer on your network, theres really not much reason to be on a router anyway. Otherwise, the directions above are pretty easy.

The past two Linksys routers I have dealt with have had problems with dropped connections, and even total lockups. My suggestion, get a new brand.
I've personally had my Microsoft MN-100 router for 4 years now. I love it, and never have problems with it. Plug it in and go.

I have to say TG members get my vote. You guys are the best.
I will try the update 1st, but after I get a few more rounds in of NS.
And yes, I share the net with my Sis, so we need the router.
I will look into the new one if the problem continues.

Don't put anything in front. Just start with 192. Sometimes the last entry should be "100" instead of "1", I cant remember when exactly.

Ok' for all to know, this is where i stand right now.

I'm using the Linksys Model# BEFSR41 Vers2.

The address to get to the linksys firmware is 192.168.5

I'm in now this is where it gets scary..lol

So I go back to the Steam site to Double check what vers of firmware i need to fix the problem and they say."Linksys BEFSR11, 41 and 81 routers seem to be causing this a great deal with the latest firmware version available from their website. If you have the BEFSR11 or 41 router, you need to run the 1.45.7 firmware to solve this problem. The current firmware version that Linksys has on their website: (1.45.11) and some older versions (before 1.45.7) of the firmware can cause these same problems. You can download the known good Linksys 1.45.7 firmware for both the BEFSR11 and BEFSR41 V2 routers at:

Well guess what? My vers is 1.46.02

How do i go backwards? If I run the correct vers to fix the problem will the Firmware vers be accepted if its not updating but going back to a different vers?
