Re: A TG ANSL Team
Oh I see.
To Adj: The pressure comes from the idea that the person is part of the team, and wants to do good, and not screw up or fail completely. Something I do experience in captain games, especially as a life form on aliens.
That's my view of what Poker was referring to when he mentioned "competitive play"

Re: A TG ANSL Team
What poker is referring to as the "competitive scene" is what we all saw from cal. A bunch of teams that play to win and if they dont, they complain and petition and find every excuse they can to cry and moan about it, then scream hax at you. If they do win, they spend the next few days rubbing it in your face in your forums and IRC channel and such, just to show you that theyre badasses. Then they walk around with giant egos the size of hot air baloons because theyre "pro".
THATS the scene most of us dont want.
Adj, you have a valid point, winning isnt everything and it's ultimately up to us to decide what we feel we're getting out of the game. Thats one big reason why we all enjoy playing TG so much. We're not pressured to win unless we want to be. We can joke around and spend 20 minutes building a marine tower in the hive if we so choose and nobody is gonna say word one about it.
The big hurdle is that so many people were burned by that CAL mentality that we all still associate that with competitive play. I, for one, will continue to see it that way until I see something different coming out of ANSL (and hydra doesnt count because I already know you guys, plus i'm talking spirit-of-play wise). But knowing how many former CAL-NS players have formed teams in ANSL, my guess would be that its gonna be the same old clubhouse.
