Re: All-Time Greatest
9v9 fade rush . . . 3 rts, 7 fades, 5 minute game.
or one time during the day on tg on ns_nothing, we were sieging via west but sucking a lot (gas + noobs), phased in, all the marines there died, lmg'd a fade hitting tf, reloaded & got rushed by a lerk + fade, emptied pistol and nades between them, blocked the fade 3 times and knifed him 5 times to death, then lmg'd the escaping lerk, then died from gas.
I kinda sat there and was like "wtf, that actually just happened . . . ."

Yes. Hellabean officially earned himself the permanent accolade of "bonehead numero uno" with that one.

Re: All-Time Greatest
Wasn't on this server, but I recall pistoling a mine on a doorway just as a fade was trying to escape, killing it. He wouldn't have hit the mine otherwise.

Re: All-Time Greatest
I wish mines were still stackable. Anyone remember when you could put the armory against the wall between the doors on eclipse and stack like 6 mines on top of it? talk about instant fade death. worked even better if you drop the mines on the wall before the armory was built so it completely hid them, but they'd still blow up if anything touched the armory.
oh yeah, and speaking of all time greatest stuff: babblers ftw.

Re: All-Time Greatest
Remember back when Mine traps were actually called "Onos Traps"?
10 res for 550 instantaneous damage...back when Onos only had 800 hp total. Add 1 LMG behind the mines, and goodbye Onos. All for just 10 res!

Re: All-Time Greatest
My greatest moment in NS was when I brought back an alien team from certain defeat back in 3.0 beta 5. The map was caged, starting hive was generator, and our team decided to go sensory first. I was saving for the hive and our team was doing fairly well considering we went with sc (it was terrible back then.) Right after I dropped the second hive in vent, the marines set up a siege on our first hive in Generator. They came through double and had set up in the long hallway coming from aux gen. Our defense wasn't much to speak of with the fade dying valiantly and quickly while two gorges took over double and oc spammed it instead of helping to defend the hive.
I went back to skulk and tried to run over and help, but ended up getting killed like everyone else. I at least managed to spawn back in when the hive was around 10%, and made it to safety via the vent that used to be in stability. I went and sat with the building hive in vent while the two gorges in double decided to go skulk and rush marine start. The hive was around 90% when three marines showed up and started building a phase in that flat area on the southeast side of vent. I had a sc next to the rt and used it to cloak-walk right next to them. Somehow I managed to kill all three with about thiry health left.
The skulks that had rushed marine start died, but they took out the aa and armslab so the commander ended up beaconing, which took any marines close to vent back to spawn and gave enough time for the hive finish building. Capping double had given us 5 rts (we also had shipping, vent and stabmon) and most people spawned in with 50+ res so we were able to drop dcs and get three fades immediately. The fades, along with the oc spam at double, were able to easily secure a victory from there.
More recently on TG, and in 3.1, I had a great, almost-solo, kill on deadmeat's onos. It was on caged again and it was about 11 minutes into a stalemate game with the aliens at two hives and both teams fighting over res and map position. I was walking alone to lower sewer after spawning in and ran into an onos on that ramp just outside of marine start. I turned around and ran over to the little stepped platform in marine start to avoid the onos' stomp. I jumped over the railing as the onos got close, then circled behind him and ran back up onto the platofrm while keeping the bullets flowing. I managed to avoid all but two gores from the onos, while emptying all four of my lmg magazines into him and was emptying my second pistol clip when another marine spawned in behind me.
The onos was low enough on health by then that the other marine's fire scared him off and the onos ran back up the ramp towards lower sewer. The other marine and I both chased after him but I was closer thanks to playing merry go round on the platform by the door. I didn't have any ammo left in my lmg so I reloaded the last bullets I had into my pistol as I hopped up the ramp after the onos. I turned the corner just as the onos was jumping over the railing to go into lower sewer. I unloaded my pistol (no scripts!) and took down the onos with my third shot.
From there our team managed to make a hard push and kill vent hive on our eventual path to victory. I don't think anyone even noticed my onos kill except for the marine that spawned in and helped me.

Re: All-Time Greatest
Soloing 2 fades (one was partially hurt with an lmg) with 1 level 0 shotgun clip.
Spawned on a shotgun, shot 2 at a fade, shot 2 at the other fade, other came back for more killed him, other came back for more, killed him 2. This was in a cal match.
FFT was the opposing team if anyone cares.
Thats 1 memory to leave the game with haha

Re: All-Time Greatest
Skills posts are lame tbh. Great games are good and soloing lifeforms / wiping out a team is dandy but I think we are looking for UNUSUAL greats, not just 'omg i got lucky + leet skills this one time'.

Re: All-Time Greatest
No need for mines to be stackable anymore. We have hand nades
aka Roland (the Headless Thompson Gunner; not of Gilead)

Re: All-Time Greatest
My greatest anything ever is me soloing a certain person who was fade as a vanilla marine with no armor.
http://rapidshare.com/files/19217787...msolo.wmv.html
Also, the countless number of times I knifed Chiller as a lerk."Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one conciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we're the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather."
