[ The Gauntlet ]

Update: Due to player inactivity (12 have been removed in 3 weeks) and general apathy, the gauntlet has been canceled. I personally will not be running another tournament in the near future, but am happy to help another if they want to take up the mantle (and give advice on what to do and what not to do). I am sorry for all the players that DID participate and enjoy. For now I just recommend having Sunday Nights be 'Captains Night' where we have as many captain's games as possible.

Welcome to [ The Gauntlet ], the most intense and dangerous game show in the galaxy. You have been hand-picked from thousands of yearly applicants to test your reflexes, experience and knowledge in fighting the Kharaa. Our state of the art simulation computer has been built by the very same TSA scientists that brought you Phase Gates and Jetpacks! They have been collecting data from your field work and know everything there is to know about the Kharaa. Feel what its like to fly through the air like the insidious lerk! Terrorize your competitors by hiding in the best ambush spots on the walls and ceilings as a skulk!

With more applicants than ever before this is going to be the most intense competition we have hosted yet!

As always, to ensure fair competition and really see who has the skill, cunning, and teamwork to win, the tournament rules are as follows.

The Rules
All TGNS rules are in effect so players should familiarize (or re-familiarize) themselves with them. They are located here (TGNS specific rules) and here (TGNS primer).
Addendum: Blocking vents with structures will be the only illegal structure placement.

The Responsibilities
Captains ( Chiller, Lazyeye, micr0c0sm, Leon, Radix, Rainbowfish, Roland, Tal )
Must attend draft meeting on the TG TeamSpeak server.
Must assure that 6 team members can make a match or reschedule at least 24 hours previous to assigned times.
Will submit team name and tag by the first match.

Referees ( Beowulf, ChopStick, Ferris Bueller, Isamil, JazzX, Yoshi MCF )
Must observe assigned match.
Must settle rules disputes as quickly and fairly as possible.
Will set the server for an official match at least 5 minutes before the scheduled time.
Will post the match results with a little recap of what happened.

Players ( 73 players in 8 teams! )
Must listen to captain on final decisions.
Will play your best in the spirit of TG.
Must respect referee decisions.

The Tournament
Matches
Will be scheduled Sunday evenings at 7pm, 8pm, 9pm, and 10pm EST.
Teams will be 6v6 unless both captains agree to 7v7 or 8v8.
There will be a new map of the week every week.
A strictly enforced 10 minute grace period will be allowed for teams to organize.
A referee will be observing each match.
If both teams agree and 24 hours notice is given to the assigned referee the match may be rescheduled.
Each match will consist of 2 rounds with no timelimit.
All matches will be recorded by HLTV.
Any disputes will be resolved by the referee or by review of the demos.

Teams
If your team does not have 6 players present for a match you are allowed to choose ringers.
The other captain is allowed to deny the team a ringer if they think that player is not a fair replacement.
The referee is allowed to allow a ringer if they think the approving team is trying to filibuster.
If a player misses a match without contacting their captain beforehand they will be marked inactive and will not be allowed to participate in the next match. If they miss twice they are kicked from the tournament.
