Re: [ The Gauntlet ] Discussion Thread
This tournament really needs a mailing list. a lot of the people that signed up for the first match probably didn't expect the first game this early or simply forgot, or don't check the TG Forums often. If they got email about when each match is, it would probably go a lot smoother. It would also be easier to update players on any changes to times, servers, passwords, etc.
To start, i think it would be a good idea to request the email address of each person that signed up. Then maybe give each captain the email addresses of his team. I would really like next round to go smoother, with teams having all their players and such.
I look forward to more tournaments in the future as well :P

Re: [ The Gauntlet ] Discussion Thread
I am going to post the entire schedule by wednesday this week which will give plenty of time for anyone to report to their captain if they can or cannot make it.
As far as future tournaments, I have some pretty grand plans for them that I think a LOT of people will like

Re: [ The Gauntlet ] Discussion Thread
Let's get this one going smoothly before you start dreaming about the next one. Things like...scheduling...are pretty fundamental concepts which should be mastered before moving onto more complex topics.
It's not like we don't have a million ways to communicate changes in the first place. Forum postings, PMs, even the email tied to the user's profile.

Re: [ The Gauntlet ] Discussion Thread
Yeah last minute schedule changes ftl. And hopefully during the real games ringers wont be allowed. Its kinda unfair and pointless to have a draft if teams missing players get to pick ringers. Then teams like mine could be like
LazyEye "Yo Headroller you suck get out....."
LazyEye "Ok Headrollers not here we pick..... McBauer to ring for us"
McBauer proceeds to kill whole Team with fade.
YAY GG we win...
Just a suggestion

Re: [ The Gauntlet ] Discussion Thread
We have ringers figured out everyone with any sense in them will be satisfied. Just waiting on a technical thing to go through so I can actually update the main thread myself.

Well next week we should have HLTV, so if you have to time, you can tune in to the other matches!

Re: [ The Gauntlet ] Discussion Thread
I support the idea of mailing list. I know I sent out PM's and although I got PM's back from 7 of the 8 people, that was the last bit of contact heard out of them although I tried to post ways for the team to get in touch as per mIRC and vent where I am idling if I am even around. I hope this week goes much better I know we only had 4 guys at our match (Excluding Cattlecruiser due to my fault on match time and he had to go). I hope next week to field the majority of the team and even have to switch out second round and let others have a go at it.

Re: [ The Gauntlet ] Discussion Thread
I think players could help they're captains out by actively seeking to make contact with them too. Don't wait for your captain to contact you.

Re: [ The Gauntlet ] Discussion Thread
Ya, a mass mailing to 71 people can cause othe problems too.
Ideally, though, the Tourney organizers could email the captains, and it would be the captains' responsibilty to get the information to his team.

Re: [ The Gauntlet ] Discussion Thread
If quick & easy hadn't had a power outage and ambriento had known of the time change we would have only been missing one guy.
aka Roland (the Headless Thompson Gunner; not of Gilead)
