Re: [ The Gauntlet ] Discussion Thread
Tanith is boring. Shiva is weird. i would choose weird over boring, but if in the next three weeks people are vocal about reasons why they would like a different map than shiva (and actually have good reasons) I will consider changing it.

Re: [ The Gauntlet ] Discussion Thread
Take off ns_hera, replace it with ns_tanith. I'd much rather play shiva than hera, and I WOULD like to see tanith in there somewhere. I'm sure 90 percent of the people in the tournament would agree with the tanith part, and a good number would agree with the hera part.
Also: If the semi-finals/finals games are 4 rounds (a round being half a game), couldn't we let each team decide on a map they want to play?

Yes, very balanced. And boring. But very balanced.

Re: [ The Gauntlet ] Discussion Thread
Actually I'd prefer not to see tanith, shiva, or hera. That said, I'd counsel against having semifinals and finals play less than 2 rounds on a map. Switching maps between every round is inherently unbalanced, since not all maps are even between marines and aliens. It's fine to do 2 on one map, and then 2 on another, but 1 half on each of 4 different maps could get ugly.

Re: [ The Gauntlet ] Discussion Thread
Thats why I posted it 5 weeks in advance - it will give the teams enough time to be considered a team, and enough time to practice the map.
It will give a chance for teams to really put a good amount of effort in the planning AND practicing.
Each map is there for a reason beyond just 'i (don't) like'.
I want to have maps that showcase:
teamwork
planning
practicing
commanding
skills
map knowledge
, in no particular order.
Shiva offers its own mix of the above, as do most of the other maps that people don't traditionally like (see machina).
A poll is up, voice what you want and for the most part the majority will win, but not everyone is going to be 100% satisfied.
My priority for the semis and finals are balanced maps that people already have good map knowledge and practice on, but still offer other aspects. This is why I want eclipse and origin to be the semis and finals or at the very leasy in the tournament.
Please, discuss more!
