I will try to fight with it when I have time. For such a simple room plan, it a pain to have hammer map it... |

Re: Map Request
I think a reasonable alternative to just removing the votemap command is to change it to ONLY be "votemap nextmap". This way people won't always pick the same maps, but if no one wants to play bast or machina, it will change.
Just make sure bast and machina aren't next to eachother in the lineup or people will be annoyed. |

Re: Map Request
So now I'm trying to seed the server with bots and then a round of co, and lo and behold comes hera. Now hera isnt such a bad map but not as popular as the big three. Guess what map is next? ns_badcy. It is now so hard to fill up the server because of the bad map cycle in the beginning. Please don't shove down people's throat what they don't want to play.....
For the interest of filling up the server please bring back eclipse after co. Or origin, or tanith, or veil... you get my drift..... And get rid of bast, not enough nodes in that map. |

Re: Map Request
how about vote for server rotation? unpopular maps at the beginning is bad for business.
As much as i really wish some people would be mature and give certain maps a chance on occasion (machina, lucid), you can't legislate opinion. note: there is a lot of legitimate disdain and fed-up-ness to people's refusal to play certain maps on both sides of this argument, but to yermo's credit there are also a lot of people that are quite bullish in their (unqualified) insistence that some new maps are entirely unworthy of play. |

Re: Map Request
My recommendation is below. I restored Eclipse, Shiva and and Lucid to the map cycle and toyed with a couple of minimum player numbers. However the biggest change was mixing the Combat and Classic maps together. This means we won't always play Hera first after we have enough people for Classic. As written the first map after combat could be: caged, lost, hera, veil, eon, or nothing.
Code:
co_faceoff "\minplayers\0\maxplayers\10\" co_angst "\minplayers\8\maxplayers\10\" ns_caged "\minplayers\11\maxplayers\24\" co_ulysses "\minplayers\4\maxplayers\10\" ns_lost "\minplayers\12\maxplayers\24\" ns_metal "\minplayers\12\maxplayers\32\" co_pulse "\minplayers\0\maxplayers\10\" co_kestrel "\minplayers\8\maxplayers\10\" ns_hera "\minplayers\12\maxplayers\32\" ns_altair "\minplayers\11\maxplayers\32\" co_sava "\minplayers\3\maxplayers\10\" ns_veil "\minplayers\12\maxplayers\32\" ns_machina "\minplayers\14\maxplayers\32\" co_core "\minplayers\0\maxplayers\10\" co_daimos "\minplayers\8\maxplayers\10\" ns_ayumi "\minplayers\11\maxplayers\32\" ns_eclipse "\minplayers\12\maxplayers\24\" ns_tanith "\minplayers\12\maxplayers\32\" co_umbra "\minplayers\3\maxplayers\10\" ns_eon "\minplayers\11\maxplayers\32\" ns_lucid "\minplayers\12\maxplayers\32\" ns_origin "\minplayers\12\maxplayers\32\" ns_shiva "\minplayers\14\maxplayers\32\" co_niveus "\minplayers\4\maxplayers\10\" ns_nothing "\minplayers\12\maxplayers\24\" ns_nancy "\minplayers\12\maxplayers\32\" ns_orbital_tg "\minplayers\12\maxplayers\32\" ns_bast "\minplayers\12\maxplayers\32\" |

Re: Map Request
I think that with Jazz's map cycle it is important to note that the co maps are mixed in... This would mean that it wouldn't immediately go to faceoff when there aren't enough players... nor that hera will always be the map after co.
Another important note is that machina and shiva require minplayers of 14. This is probably a good idea because it means that there will be a few more people the server can afford to lose without sacraficing a good game. |

Also, I strongly disagree with lowering the map timelimit, as that encourages more attempts to effectively skip a map by doing a rush. In my opinion the reason we have so many bad games on bast etc. is because people decide to do some sort of rush so they can go to the next map. If you don't like a map, try for a votemap. If the majority on the server isn't in favor of switching, then let them actually play a game on the map, don't just declare some type of rush followed by "ok we played it, now change it admin". Just to be clear, I'm not saying never do a rush, I'm just saying don't do a rush just to avoid playing a map. Last, count one more vote for Jazz's cycle, I would like to not see the same map every time we switch modes. We might consider having a higher minimum player count for orbital, as people are somewhat less likely to join when we're on a custom map. I know this doesn't apply to most regs, but the times the server isn't full are generally when we want ?'s to be joining... I also wouldn't mind seeing rampage or agora on the cycle, just because I like variety, even if I don't like rampage (I'll leave it to the reader to decide if I mean the map, the player, or the old Atari game). Speaking of which, we need ns_jumpingaroundontallbuildingsandeatingpeople; Oni can clearly scale buildings. |
