Report!

And we have arrived in summer! So i should have more time (if i want to) to work on the map, i added a new room / hallway last night and i am just finish detailing it right now.

Where are all your map parts i ask you!

Yermo, how goes the hive?

Irish are you still here? (and i liked the look of your hive thou i couldn't get fog.wad to work, it was messing up my complining process.)

Slayer o hippies, Where can i find your most recent or up to date / done room?

And beyond that I'm hoping to get a playtest done, but it doesn't seem likely without your hives.

I will also be gone 3-4 weeks in a month or so if anyone wants to work on it let me know.

Yeah I'm finally done with school. I have a load of free time, (Hence I finally fixed my computer) and yeah I can finish the hallway I was making that leads to the siege room.

Good i guess cause i think i have a place for it, if not then it could go somewhere near either one of the other hives people are working on (WHICH I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE BTW!?!?)

Re: Map making Progress Thread

Haven't been any posts in this section for a while guys, any of you still working on the parts? I'm still in England but i'll be back soon and will be picking it up again (didn't have hammer on the laptop) Last i looked at it, a majority of parts are layed out but they need to be altered to varying height and line of sight details, for example in one part of the map you can look farther then the engine renders for that distance.

Slayer if you have updated your map in any way please PM or EMail me with the updates, when i get back i plan to try adding it to the map (If you allow me i might change some things to make it fit better but if not thats fine), Same goes for you XTC, providing your still here. I have your part but if thats not totaly finished or anything to you just tell me.

as for Yermo, Irish, and lost. If you have done any more of the hives keep me updated, I'll need at least 2 of them if the map is ever to be playtested.

---

Also, with the tech release of NS2 looming (or so says their front page) i was wondering if anyone wanted to start planning (formaly) a map for NS2 we can play when it comes out, or maybe we could even make stuff for the client side scripting. I was thinking Vent, MSN, TS, something. With actual ideas, drawings, construction, ideas, and coordination on a project. Maybe something monthly, or weekly, or an increasing of meetings when tech is actualy released. I was thinking we could actualy have some sort of teamish setup for it, doing mapping, detailing, texturing and such. Desing, devlop, model, fun... stuff....

For now, just keep thinkin. I'll see about setting up something like that, see if people are interested.

Re: Map making Progress Thread

If we all work on it, then I would gladly get mapping again. I need help setting up hammer and a quick refresh on how to do everything though. Lets all meet up on vent or something one day.

Re: Map making Progress Thread

Tired of waiting for people who don't do what their gonna say they are.

I'm pulling all resources i have and i am adding all parts people have given me to the map, I can't say if they'll look exactly like you left them but i've noticed no one seems to want to make the map, at least not this one since we've all had little contact.

I'll start mashing the parts together and making a 3rd hive now instead of waiting.

I'd still like to a community push to make an NS2 map when the tech release is out, cause i know your all gonna wanna play NS2 and i like the new-er mapping tools.

I would love that The Source SDK is a lot smoother IMO than hammer. Even though they are pretty much the same, the Source SDK just seems easier to use...

Well. Their the same program just diff versions and engines. For example, you can have 'leaks' in the HL2 hammer without much difficulty and it handels multi surfices and multi triggers alot easier.

I also think they changed some minor things like shortcuts... Don't quote me though, I'm probably mistaken

Re: Map making Progress Thread

Just wanted to jump in and commend Donat for pressing on with this. Mapping is incredibly difficult (to do well), with very little "reward" other than having other people enjoy your creation, and takes and absolutely ridiculous amount of time. Kudos man. Keep on keepin' on.

Re: Map making Progress Thread

I appreciate that Stupid, thank you.

One thing about the map i was expecting when i started to be doing the readyroom and a hallway... Most of this map has been worked out from the original hallway, plus parts will from other mapper's parts they made for the map.

If and when I start mapping for NS2 i'm gonna be sure to have it 'worked out' at least so i have a better idea from the begging (I had sevral layouts i did half way thou this one,)

That stuff said, i'm still working on it. I retextured (some) of XTC's room to reduce the texture limit, i removed the fog from irish's hive till he can get it to work or tell me how to make it work with hammer / compliers.

I retextured and added a celing and a vent to Radix's reactor room (didn't retexture TOO much)

I shrank the 3rd hive to reflect it ever being possible to be seiged.

I'm hoping to have it playtestable soon, right now i'm in a tweaking stage getting all the recent rooms and hives i added to work with the map and be leak-proof (No big boxes around anything, it just makes it lag and take way to long to render)

After that then I'm gonna finish connecting the rooms and then it should be playtest ready after I 'build' it a few times to check siege ranges n' stuff like that, after all of this I will be interested in seeing if i can actualy play this map.

Re: Map making Progress Thread

The thing is stix is almost finished.... I just have to make everything work and make everything leak-proof and add a few connecters that i'm still not sure the exact workings of.

Re: Map making Progress Thread

Maybe we can start a second map, I know I did some RT work but it didn't get used to my knowledge. I wouldn't even dare to start it though until Donat's map is finished though.
