Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.

Who is this Wolfie guy who comes to our forums but not to our server?

The always mysterious Wolfie. I thought he was just an apparition.

12-03-2003, 01:25 PM #21The point is to communicate as effectively as possible. Period. My posts regarding microphones and key binds are there to help people who can't figure it out for themselves to realize when the microphone or keyboard is the most effective method. All depends on scenario. Natural Selection moves faster than any computer game I've ever played, and sometimes you have to use every method available if you're going to get your message to your team. Hell, I've been known to successfully communicate by simply moving my player model before (basic "yes", "no", or "come here" gestures).

NS should have hand gestures like DoD!
or the say commands should be easier to get to the right clicking and moving about.

12-03-2003, 06:21 PM #24My numpad is composed of the radio commands. They're all still there, even though most of them were removed from the right-mouse tree and the configuration screen. I even make little cheat-sheets that sit above my keyboard, showing my bind layout so I don't have to remember that "move out" is on number 7. If I remember, I'll post a portion of my documented config file later tonight showing the impulses for all the radio sayings.

I rarely use the radio commands to relay decision-making information, as it gives your location away to nearby opposition.

12-03-2003, 09:49 PM #26I don't use most of them anymore, as they take up the audio channel just like chatting on the mic does. I do use "move out" and "follow me" frequently, trying to get a squad out of base, as they can pinpoint which direction to look for me in based on the sound, whereas the mic is directionless.

But you get the mic icon on top of your head, and IMO its easier to see then to hear.

12-04-2003, 10:16 PM #28But they have to be looking at you when you're talking. If all you say is "follow me guys", half of them are still humping the armory. Trust me, I'm speaking from lots of experience

Agreed. The only two radio commands I do have bound are the taunt and the "follow me". The taunt is for entertainment, and the follow me is for managing from the ground groups of marines who are busy.

I find it hilarious that even though these saying are all bound to a key, they're all still abbriviated. :P
