Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.

yeah, but at 320x240, everything is HUGE! when you say "onos", it actually looks like an onos on the screen good idea with the binds, but the ammon and health binds dont really say where you are do they? you'd have to use a simple alias to get the location and the words in if i remember correctly.

    Re: helpful communication binds

I haven't messed with userconfig.cfg but I have assigned some keys inside of NS's direct key binding window, under options. I'm just sorta used to it from my experience with Counter Strike. C is for Covering. V is for taking the point. X is for Health, weld etc. And Z ...I don't remember what I assingned for Z. But the point is I know automatically what key binding goes with each key.

Think of it as the Cut, Copy and Paste shortcuts...

...if only there was an Undo command in NS...

    Re: helpful communication binds

I realize this is dated, but I've never used any sort of binds or scripting in all the time I've played NS and have broken down to start using things like this which are just helpful.

However, I have to disagree a bit with Wyz's approach. While the message does need to be kept short, in this case it seems to be too truncated. If someone whose never seen these binds before sees them on screen they may not neccessarily know what they mean (mving, bldg, grdng, etc). While it shouldn't take much to understand it, I don't see it doing much harm to use full words to make sure that the message is well understood, even if it takes up more space.

I also find smallcap shorthand typing like that a bit annoying, no offence, and for purely asthetic reasons will actually spell out things like Ready, Cover me, etc. If for some reason that becomes a nuisance I'd just stop using them.

I still have 17 macro keys to bind to something on my keyboard, they are part of my g15 keyboeard, so they can have almost any comination on mouse clicks and keyboard clicks, and waits. Any idea?

    Re: helpful communication binds

i liked the G keys on the g15 st first, but then you find out that they dont work all the time (if the profile doesnt activate when you open the game) and theyre a pain to program. but i have most of mine set up anyway. heres my custom binds:

    silence skulk
    celerity skulk
    adren gorge
    celerity lerk
    celerity/focus skulk
    celerity/focus lerk
    adren/sof onos
    adren/sof/redempt onos
    med call
    ammo call
    weld call
    taunt
    orders call
    gorge/drop 2 mc
    gorge/drop hive

I cant really think of anything else id really need that voicecomm wouldnt do better as far as sounds go. for the lifeforms with the G15, you have to use the 3.1 gestation times plus 0.1 seconds if you're getting upgrades or it wont work. you have to use the impulse commands for lifeforms also because clicks in game wont work.

I think that says it all there, actually.

Yoshi MCF: The fact that you speak Wyz doesn't disprove his insanity. It only proves yours.
