Re: cloak detection without motion tracking...
Motion tracking doesn't counter cloaking. Cloaking counters Motion tracking.

Re: cloak detection without motion tracking...
How do you figure? Motion tracking means I can be "seen" even though I'm cloaked (when I'm moving).

Re: cloak detection without motion tracking...
Popular to contrary belief, when you are cloaked, you are not motion tracked under any circumstances. Except during transitions between uncloaking and recloaking, you won't show up on motion tracking. There are other ways to be tracked. This being sound and vision. Good players can spot cloaked players as they are not completely cloaked, but they need to be completely still. With a sensory chamber, you can run while being cloaked, but this gives you away, and many can tell exactly where you are just from sound.
Cloak is also useless for life forms gorge and under. Lerks have no use for cloaking, and fades are onos are so big that they're easy to spot.
So:
->Turning will NOT show up on motion tracking
->A cloaked lifeform will NOT show up on motion tracking. No matter what circumstance. Wether it be walking running, upgrade or sensory chamber, they will NOT show up on motion tracking.
->Transitions between cloaking and uncloaking while moving will OCCATIONALLY show up on motion tracking.
->Anything within obs range WILL be motion tracked, even without the motion tracking upgrade. This includes any structures. They will be seen on the minimap as a red dot without MT researched, they will show up as MT circles when it has been researched.
->Anything moving within a scanned area WILL be motion tracked if motion tracking is researched, or show up as their respective icons on the minimap, regardless of motion tracking.
->Webs do not show up on motion tracking. They do, however, show up as a red blip on the radar with or without mt researched. This one surprised me when I tested It because i've seen webs motion tracked before. Tested with obs, without obs, with mt and obs, mt without obs, and mt alone.

Re: cloak detection without motion tracking...
hmm, id say mt does counter clocking, when aliens walk i can spot them with mt.
Cloacking is not useless for gorge, it keeps its phat ass alive, i noticed that, cause i always gorge

Re: cloak detection without motion tracking...
Thanks for that reminder. I was apparently incorrect in my understanding of how that works.

Re: cloak detection without motion tracking...
It doesn't counter cloaking in the sense that a moving, cloaked alien does not get a blip. It does in the sense that beforehand you see the blip and when it dissapears you know its still comming right at you. Its easier to see the outline of a cloaked skulk when you know where it previously was.
Example: On co_daimos, waiting at the end of the hallway outside marine spawn. MT blip appears incoming to base but right around corner disapears. Attentive marine now knows (a. a skulk is comming and (b. its approximate location and direction. Suddenly you spot the mirage of the overconfident skulk and....*pop* *pop* *pop* that's all she fricken wrote.
If you play that again without MT (or if skulk walked the whole way) the marine probably would have moved and ran into the cloaked skulk. Or not been paying attention and the skulk would've popped up on him. Thus, MT countered the attrocites of cloaking/"Adios...blimp" -Assy McGee

Re: cloak detection without motion tracking...
This is viable in a CO game because upgrades come 'free' so to speak. Motion tracking in an NS game is a costly upgrade. And while it does help, res is better spent on armor upgrades/second obs which actually do counter cloaking.

Re: cloak detection without motion tracking...
I like how you say "without motion tracking" when even with motion tracking you can't see cloakers.

But you can see where they are prior to cloaking and have the upper hand on the lower foot, Saddam.
