Re: prediction aiming
NS (ala "HL mod") mouse sensitivity, I read, is based on a combination of the 'sensitivity' setting in HL and the mouse acceleration settings in your OS (presumably Windows), so comparing 'sensitivity' values from HL is misleading.

Re: prediction aiming
Sensitivity in HL depends on the mouse and its drivers. Also the size of you mousepad. Idealy you should beable to turn 180 in both directions when your mouse is in the center of the pad.

Re: prediction aiming
I use a super low sensitivity, and I know people still can't track me speccing me as lerk. It's still possible to do a 180+, it just takes practice and a good mousepad (the larger the better).

Re: prediction aiming
I'm looking for an distance in inches that your arm/wrist must move. And whether you have Windows mouse acceleration on. And I'm more curious than anything - so if you don't want to tell me (super war-secret?) that's OK.

Re: prediction aiming
My wrist stays planted on the bottom of the mousepad, and I move my wrist around. At no time does my wrist leave the mousepad. I have full control over the mouse in every direction, and I can lift the mouse and put it back in the center of the pad if I have to. It's much more graceful and smoother than any other sensitivity and wrist/arm movement I've used so far, and I've done them all. I also have acceleration disabled. I found it hard to guage movment when it was on. My LMG aim improved quite a bit with it disabled.

Re: prediction aiming
I'd like to turn off mouse acceleration but have a problem...
When I launch NS from the "Games" menu on steam (or a shortcut from the desktop) where I can use command line parameters (-noforcemparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd) my fps gets locked at 60.
When I launch NS directly to a server from the "Servers" menu, I get my typical 100 fps.
How do I achieve both no mouse acceleration and 100 fps?Former TGNS admin until WoW blinded me with flashy lights.

Re: prediction aiming
i dunno about you guys but im a pretty hard core tfc/cs player. to me, a bhopin player is not too different from those alien things. both always rely on their jumping capabilies to attack and evade. i myself use 20 sensitivity, and tho a dude did say some of the top clanners use -3 sens, i know tfc snipers who operate with 40 sensitivity, can hs a scout, and all the while be conced. i make it so when i center my mouse on a pad, it moves 180 in any direction.
and about this prediction thing, even if you know where the dang aliens gonna go it won't help you if your aim is pitiful. face it, only practice will get you there.

Re: prediction aiming
As far as aiming goes, practice makes perfect. You can't do much in terms of predicting when the player who is coming at you thinks he is bunny hopping but he is actually jumping so randomly it boggles the mind. Same goes for good bhoppers, can't predict (although generally its left right left right heh) because they will be in your face in no time.
As far as mouse sensitivity, I have always used windows default, and 3-5 in game for tfc/cs/ns (and all the crappy mods). Gotten used to that and works fine for me.

I love gaming, mmmmmmmm

Re: prediction aiming
Heres one for you aiming genuis' then = )
I often have trouble nailing super skulks. nromal skulks arent bad. leapers are kinda tough. celerity as well..btu once they start gettign a ton of movement upgrades, i just cant seem to nail the buggers (enigma being one of the most notable).
ive tried a few things. ive tried leading them and ive tried simply avoiding them...as well as waiting for when they bolt at me, but i suppose my reactions just arent fast enough, unless im lucky enough to have a shotgun of l2 or higher.
so what do i do? please, id love to be able to killt hem, but its so rough!

Re: prediction aiming
If you're talking combat, then I'd recommend getting armor 1, Weapons 3, and a shotgun. When he leaps at you, wait till you see nothing but teeth on your screen, pull trigger, dead skulk.
Good times......

Re: prediction aiming
Heh. really wish THAT worked for me. Maybe i just need to stop getting bit. or something.
have to say though, for any who doubt the prediction aiming method, it does work. its a bit of a trick finding out correct leadiung (especially on faster bugs), but once you do, skulks are liek nothing. ive seen it now and then = )
