Alright, I made my first post in a bit hastely. I hadn't had a chance to properly command yet with the new system, and commanding with 100 FPS is a FAR more enjoyable experience than commanding with 10 :P
I think I'll be exercising my buttocks more often now

I'd love to command, but there are 2 things that keep me from doing so:
1 - Unfamiliarity with the new maps. I need to play them all a little more before I'll be confident enough to command them. The old maps I'm OK with, but that leads me to my next issue...
2 - I have never been able to get my binds to work the way I want them to. And the one time I did get them the way I wanted, I forgot what they were as soon as I got into the chair. I guess I need to write out a cheat sheet for myself.
Anyway, after I get back from out of town this weekend, I'll see what I can do about setting those confounded things up right, and maybe try my hand at the chair.
Can someone please post the proper binds so that I can "turbo-drop" ammo and health please?
Thanks. Please allow me to adjust my pants
So that I may dance the Good Time Dance
And put the onlookers and innocent bystanders into a trance

NS 2.0 has default binds for command mode, and you can change them in the configuration menus if you like. However, I use the default and am most pleased with it.

Basically, the keys on the left side of your keyboard are laid out in the same way as the buttons on the screen when you're in the commander mode. For example, the top left button in the command interface is the BUILD button. So, to summon the commander interface BUILD menu, simply press Q (the top left key in your bind configuration). Now that you have the BUILD menu selected, the TURRET FACTORY button is on the last row of buttons, on the far left. So, having pressed on your keyboard the bind for the BUILD menu, now you simply press the key on your keyboard that is arranged in the same layout spot as is the TURRET FACTORY button on the command interface. That key would be "Z".
Hopefully you get the idea, and you can go play with the 2.0 COMM interface now, maybe in a small game to get started. It's imperfect (as you'll quickly realize), but it gets the job done.

In 1.x, you used "custom binds" to do things. Two differences in 2.x. First of all, the bind assignments are built into the client.
Second, you don't bind keys to "stuff" (TF, medpack, ammo, etc). You bind keys to buttons on the command interface. So, the "a" key (assuming default configuration) is bound to the button on the far left side of the second row in the command interface. If you're currently on the advanced build menu, the "a" key drops an observatory. If you click on a turret (omg I just typed turrent. damn you yellow asterisk!) factory, the "a" key electrifies it. If you're currently on the equipment menu, the "a" key drops mines.

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.
