10-12-2003, 03:51 PM #46*gets a mental image of Wyzcrak sermoning a bunch of dirty people in a cave*i love being commanded by wyzcrak... it's like i'm commed by my morpheus
Yeah, its a bit buggy. While it does work, half the time switching menus or canceling selections is a bit tricky. I use my esc key a lotHopefully you get the idea, and you can go play with the 2.0 COMM interface now, maybe in a small game to get started. It's imperfect (as you'll quickly realize), but it gets the job done.
I am the one, I am the zero, I am your low resolution hero.

Ouch...my ego always takes a beating when it comes to labeling fav. comms even though I am quite clearly the longest running comm (and best) (EVER).
Oh well, it may be lonley at the top, but I enjoy it :P
General Execution and Tips
As for tips...didnt we have this little session a few months back? Commanding is all about style and attitude. My personal style happens to run along the: "I'm the best ever at this and infallible, our loss is your fault and never mine, ever." With this in mind my confidence and ego are boosted greatly(It helps to have a positive attitude). However since you are not me I can only suggest feeling good about yourself and trying to do the best job you can, because you are not perfect like me. (
)
Next comes the plan, we have like what is it? 45 seconds? If you plan on commanding, say it right away, and spend the next 40 seconds on figuring out what your main plan is going to be, and what your back up will be should the first fail. Dont plan on a third plan, as your screwed if you fail horribly twice. Size up your team, if you have a pretty coherent team that can follow orders, you can be more ballzy with your plans and tactics. If they look pretty fresh, use something recognizeable and reliable.
Now comes the execution, which is mostly up to your marines, sure you can drop health and what not, but it mostly depends on them. Try your main plan as thoroughly as possible, but if you see it isnt working, switch to your back up plan.
Tips for gaining obedience
Only drop health for those that have succesfully killed an enemy in the most encounter. (This is also good for saving money)
Threaten to recycle critical structures if they dont listen, and dont ever bluff, remember YOU dont need the armory and arms lab, THEY do.
Promise goodies to anybody who can achieve objective A, B, C, or D. Those retarded peons are far more likeley to go to the waypoint if you throw a shotgun or HMG onto the table.
Dont be afraid to be precise in your hatred, if some guy consistently makes poor decisions, loses valuable equipment, or just does not what you told him to do, let the whole team know that he is doing this, and cut him off from all attention possible. Thats no medpacks, no ammo packs, no phase gates, definetley no equipment, and an occasional vocalized disgust.

10-12-2003, 07:09 PM #49While your post started with undeniable lies, this comment toward the end made me laugh (of course, so did the introductory lies). I've stopped entire assaults just because some guy was blatently disobeying my command. I remember one night distinctly.

"NO NO.. he thinks Cargo needs to fall RIGHT NOW, and it's important that we all do what Zyco says, so just sit tight. Zyco assures me this is the right thing to do, so just hold on while Zyco takes down the hive."
*Zyco dies in cargo, alone*
Never fails.

I commed one game and won it, although it was small, and really doesn't count as a game, but i hope i can try in a "real" game tonight!

Co-ordination and communication are the 2 winning components.

I don't know when Turb started, but it wasn't too long ago, and I'm more than pleased to have him in the COMM chair. He takes advice from his marines, calls marines by name when giving orders, and generally does a very good job in the role.
I started this thread so that I could see more of you do as he has done. Hop in, royally screw those of us on the ground a few times while you learn (
), and then discover that.. HEY.. I'm pretty good at this.

I always join the team with less players, or at a disadvantage. If its a new game, I usually join random...

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.
