Re: critique my fade script
I don't think a fade script is all that necessary.
If you do intend to use it, you'll still have to invest lots of time and practice just getting the feel of it. Using a blink script won't necessarily make you a better fade. But, whichever method you choose, i'd recommend the following:
- Practice blinking by just tapping your mouse button and monitoring your energy.
- Go around a map and learn the layout well so you don't get into any sticky sitations. Know your exits and vents!!
- Try to bunnyhop around corners or areas where the entrances are small to conserve adrenaline
- Master a map/maps by blinking around the entire map without hitting a wall or getting stopped
- Don't miss swipes >_<
- use good judgement when you decide to attack
I still need to practice all of those :\[negative]

Re: critique my fade script
Most people are terrible at controlling their use of energy with blink. Just spectate them.
A fair amount of the time after a use of blink you will see them bunnyhop until their energy refills. Granted, I find that kind of lame for the pseudo-silence you can get with it but anyways.

Re: critique my fade script
My friend made a script that allowed him to jump and metabolize, which restores energy. I think I'll try to use a deviation of that or something very similar, unless I'm outta place and a script like that wouldn't be ok on the server.
Also I belive crouching when you jump and blink is a common practice as well as it alows you to travel even greater distances. I don't know if this would be the code but I'll try my stab at it:
alias fade_blink "slot2;w4;w4;+jump;+crouch;wait;-crouch;-jump;wait;+attack;w4;-attack;wait;slot1"
Also is there a way I could assign this to my space bar while still having normal jump for every other life form?

Re: critique my fade script
Ducking does make your hitbox smaller, but it reduces your air control and I believe it also reduces your speed more when you hit the ground. I would think the increased distance from traveling is negligible - you'd be better off just increasing the angle you're blinking at. The only time I crouch while blinking is when I'm going in a straight line.
Edit: I'd also like to add that scripts don't make a fade good. A bad fade, with or without scripts, is still bad. What makes a good fade is judgment. There are many technically competent fades who aren't really good, because they tend to do stupid things.Underwhelmed

Re: critique my fade script
I'm sorry but this script is totally useless... The only thing you need to change to be an effective fade is your slot keys. If you use WASD to move, try SHIFT for slot2, SPACE for slot1, and F for slot3. That's what I use.

Re: critique my fade script
...yea, that may be helpful, but my issue isn't slots. My problem is I hold the button down to too long and waste my adren.

Re: critique my fade script
Train yourself not to. Any script that you make to conserve energy won't be used in combat, and if you DO use it in combat, you're going to be extremely nerfed.
Now if you want to conserve energy while traveling around the map, use mwheel. Bind mwheelup +attack, bind mwheeldown +attack. Use mwheelup/down and try to get into a bunny hop motion while traveling around the map.
Are you going INTO fights with too little energy, or escaping with too little energy (or not escaping due to lack of energy)? You need to go into fights with a good ammount of energy. However, when you're escaping, you can use ALL your energy if you need to, as long as you make a clean escape.
A 1 hive fade should be on the defensive, which means MCs nearby. (I would hope.)
A 2 hive fade is when you can be offensive, because meta reduces the extremely long down time for your energy to replenish.
You don't always have to/can eliminate your weaknesses. Just adapt your fading style. If you know you waste energy, compensate for it by only attacking when your retreat route is nearby, etc.

Re: critique my fade script
Bunny hopping with +jump is slower then blinking in a bunny hop motion.

Re: critique my fade script
What are some good upgrades to get as fade? I usually see people getting celerity and regen. But, I also remember seeing this one guy from #cri get adren +Cara.

Re: critique my fade script
For MCs you should always get celerity
For DCs I get regen. It's nice when mixed with meta. I like to heal up nice and quick. But if the marines have weapons 3 or hmgs I get carapace for sure.
For SCs you should get focus. Sometimes I'll get SOF if I'm confident that I don't need focus.
