we got to get organized...
Now I've never played an RPG in MP mode, or co-op mode... but I imagine it needs to be ran the same way as any squad shooter. With teamwork and tactics.
I just connected this evening, just to test that it was working... unfortunately it's Act 1 from the official campaign... what I think we need is a module that no one has played or knows, then a team gathered together for a weekly chapter or something like that. We need to decide who is going to be what, for instance we needed a thief badly with all those traps and locked doors in that one dungeon we were playing tonight.
We need our own teamspeak channel, which I know there use to be one, but it's gone now.
Then work as a team with the fighters up front and the magic users in the rear, along with a proper plan of attack...say... for instance a wizard uses tangleweed to lock up some bad guys while the fighters go in for a bashing kill.
It was cool, but everyone kept going to there own thing causing the whole team to keep loading different areas over and over.
still alot of potential but organization in game play is needed. IMOMagnum

Re: we got to get organized...
yeah, sorry about the rushing around - I was trying to get to the inn in neverwinter to drop the npc's off so we could decide what to do without them rushing off into every combat going. Then when we left the crypt we got stuck in the storyline bit.

The problem with modules at this stage is that I don't think there are any proper multiplayer ones about yet. This first stage is kinda confusing as well - certain things seem to be done but not others.
I'm likely to be setting up either a Fighter, Cleric or Rogue, so happy to see what other people want and play around it.

I'll pull Cleric duty. Hoping on right now.

Re: we got to get organized...
I've always played an easy character like the paladin or the fighter, but we definitely need a thief for those traps and locking picking, so maybe I'll explore that character.
Does NWN2 have that same NWN1 feature where one person can be the "DM" and control the action and game, or did they leave that out?Magnum

I believe that it is in and can be accessed if you use the DM password instead of the normal password when logging in.

I'm making a rogue, I love making the characters that lay/disarm traps, unlock doors, sneak around to scout and.. well.. steal things.
Question is, if we start a round, are we going to start from scratch, or should we finish the singleplayer campaign first, leveling up our hero, THEN come online?|TG|Clodhopper - Intelligence is the key, but I'm locked out!

Re: we got to get organized...
In my experience there is often room for a couple of rogues as you can take them in very different ways. My most common character is a Rog/Ftr combination - all the self sufficiency of the rogue class but with a ton of feats. Then there's the sick sick Rog/Rng dual-wielding rapier varient. Maxed up Use Magic Item combined with high dex for archery also gives you good back up artillery.
Also bear in mind that if we get to a point where we NEED a rogue, but the regular guy cannot make it we'd be stuck - so a couple extra rogues are never bad.
When I joined the game yesterday it seemed to start from the beginning of the 2nd chapter, when you arrive in neverwinter. I even got the cut screen bit that i had at that point. Previous quests only seemed to be completed up to that point where they were necessary to the plot line (for example Commander Tann had not been rescued yet, but Cormick was in Neverwinter).
The server is also set to accept local vault characters, so you can being in what you have made "at home".

Re: we got to get organized...
Ok so heres all I want to know from all of you;
-What class do you prefer playing?
-Would you like to play online with online only character (rather than upload your offline character, lets all start from square one together)
Once these questions are settled, we're one step closer to being well organized IMO.
HEH forgot to answer my own question;
-I prefer playing rogues
-I'd be happy to start up a fresh character online with everyone, just to keep an even playing field.|TG|Clodhopper - Intelligence is the key, but I'm locked out!

Re: we got to get organized...
Not sure exactly how the NWN2 server archives saved files, but I would suggest that if you get a group going to run through the game then you grab the save game date / time when you finish your run and have it loaded up when you want to start. The reason for this is that if you get 50% through the module and all leave, and me with a brand new character logs on I'll be up against impossible opponents.
I doubt I'll be able to make a regular time with you guys (being 5 hours ahead of the east coast), but for what it's worth:
Class: Anything except Monk
Vault: Server
PvP: Full PvP

Re: we got to get organized...
So, can we get some official word on that TS channel? I know I seen one up for NWN2 a week ago, but now it seems to be gone. Wondering if it was deleted on accident or on purpose, also would like to know if we can get it back.

Re: we got to get organized...
I've been playing alot of NWN2 since I got it. Even more than the Burning Crusade (World of Warcraft) Beta I am in. It's fun, but I freaking forget to save and then some stupid thing happens and I go back in time two hours -_-
Anyways, If it weren't for my work schedule, I would have enjoyed playin on the TG server with you all. Even though it seems to be a bit laggy for me. Working on my level 10 Tiefling Frenzied Berzerker right now in single player mode. I got a Pally up to level 8 or 9 and played the 'lawful good' game, it got too boring. Much happier playing the Chaotic Evil Berzerker.
If I see it up sometime with someone in it, I'll join and see what's up, but I don't even see the server up right now. =(RAWGRLRLRLRRLGLRL!!!
