Re: [Map Guide] On Home Soil

I've played this one three times now and every time the PLA gets owned. The main culprit is the FLIR scopes that some of the USMC have. This maps at dusk with light fog, but the USMC optics can see past the fog-distance.

I think the best tactic for PLA is to hole up as best you can. Any long-distance engagements are suicide... so hunker down in the complex and make USMC come to you!

Re: [Map Guide] On Home Soil

I've played this twice as PLA with 15 players (10v5) and won it the second time. We were playing the limited respawn mode where players took over bots until no bots were left.

The first time through we got owned hardcore. We had difficulty picking them up unless they fired (and even then it was tough) where they watched us move from way the hell away where we had no chance of spotting them. Our only kills outside the complex were from a patrolling FAV blundering into them and getting a few. When we respawned we holed up inside which actually was just as bad as roaming around outside.... They knew how many players we had left (damn them for being able to count how many they killed!) and made some simple assumptions as to where we could be hiding to avoid being spotted and that was that. We got one more in the assault but in the end they wiped us out pretty cleanly.

The second time through we set up ambushes and used the FAV's as the "hounds" to force the "rabbit" into our kill zones. We set up 2 teams on the likely paths of their advance and patrolled heavily around our ambush areas with the FAV's. We negated the FLIR advantage which allowed us to use our superior numbers to beat them. They never even entered the complex. I would strongly suggest crewing the FAV's with a medic and an engineer so they can be little self-contained units.

I'm sure if we had played a 3rd round they would have engaged the FAV's instead of their plan for the first 2 rounds of trying to avoid them or they would have went the long way around where we only had idiot bots to defend, so our plan wouldn't have worked twice.
