Yep. But I don't see the logic of some people with that analysis. Surely if OFP2 is developed by a company that did not develop OFP1:Cold War Crisis you would expect it to be different, and not be surprised when it is not like ArmA ? Anyhow I'm convinced hating new releases has become a new internet hobby for some people like making rude comments on Youtube videos. Maybe it's a good sign ?

Re: Another Review - from player.
OFPDR is a better, bigger, less buggy Ghost Recon. The TG community that plays GR should buy this game. You could fold that population into this one and nobody would look back.

Re: Another Review - from player.
Those you see bashing the game on the forums and on youtube are the type you don't want here. People here can turn any game into a great game because of how we play it. That's how we are with ArmA2 and im sure that's how TG will help OFP2 become a great game. I just hope to see that player count increased drastically for this to become a very good game.

Are you sure you 're talking about OFPDR? There really isn't much detail in the distance when it comes to foliage. Grass stops rendering at a rather short distance which is actually good at times because the AI can look straight trough it. If it weren't for the tracers you 'd be shot 80% of the time without having a clue wherefrom.
This was a short first impression I wrote:
After playing through the first 6 missions with a bud I 'd like to add some thoughts to that list:
+ bullet drop is awesome, I love pulling of 600m shots with an M4/M16
+ game can be played tactical
+ coop rocks, random people seem to follow orders when you play on hardcore
- menu in multiplayer tends to lag and seems unresponsive at times
- head bob when sprinting is overdone, needs to be toned down
- AI can see through grass at close distance, which leads to getting shot at by targets you cannot see
- no joystick support for choppers
- vehicle physics/handling are very poor, brakes hardly work
- sometimes you shoot someone or get shot with blood flying everywhere, yet it doesn't seem to do any damage
- server browser is crap, barely any filters can be applied, seems to only show about 20 servers, no option to refresh a single server and no playerlist before connecting
I 'm really enjoying the coop campaign with a friend right now (on hardcore), but I 'm afraid what will happen after I finish the campaign. Tried connecting to some multiplayer sessions last night... but without dedicated server files, it was a horrible experience.

Re: Another Review - from player.
Are you using the spacebar to stop? I had a really hard time driving because the back key doesn't do anything but the spacebar is actually the break and doesn't work to bad. I hit a few buildings and people before I figured that out though

The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men.

Re: Another Review - from player.
The worst thing about the game at the moment is the freaking lag in the menu system. Last night it took me and 3 friends 14 minutes to navigate through the menus to all be in the same game due to the lag, and only 11 minutes to play through the mission...

Re: Another Review - from player.
Agree, it 's horrible. The bug report thread at the Codemasters forum has exceeded 44 pages in less than a week. The menu lag has been mentioned multiple times, as well as the mouse bug (where you lose scroll control in the weapon menu, etc...) and the request for dedicated servers.
Not a single response from the devs yet... after 45 pages.

Re: Another Review - from player.
Sold! I've been waiting for a decent game since OGR (I will never forgive GRIN for GRAW) so if you're fooling me I'll be very upset.

This could also be what pushes me to finally buy myself a new computer too
I never really got into ArmA simply because I prefer to play infantry and currently i rate OGR on N42 (and a period of raiding in wow) as the acme of my "gaming career".
I just hope the game provides good support for moders and mission scripters so the inhouse talents can give us the TG spice that'll make the game so much better!
Otoh...

Re: Another Review - from player.
I've played the game for a couple hours now and just can't get anywhere. I've played and beat so many games I figured this would be fun but its been just brutal. It's the kind of game I like (love) but man, death comes so quick. And then having to be up against a time constraint so early in the game has me stopped. I'm waiting for a strategy guide or walk through to come out. Getting old I guess.
If anybody knows where I can get some help, let me know.
Intel Quad 9559
EVGA 790i Sli
4 GB DDR3
GeForce 9800 gt with DDR 3
The computer is running the game great-it's me that's stinking at it.

Re: Another Review - from player.
Welcome to TG Hombre. Are you doing single missions or a campaign? What mode are you playing in?
You can find some good information for starters in the tactics and guides part of this forum (look above on the main forum page and you will see the link).
Many players are posting great tips and information there and throughout the forums on various aspects of the game that may help you get off to a better start.
This is a game where well planned moves are rewarded and rushing in usually has bad consequences. Keep at it and I am sure you find better results.|TG-12th| jb4

Re: Another Review - from player.
Thanks for the guide. Could you download the PDF ?
I wrote a review (you'll have to search out my blog "djbarney" on wordpress) that examines some of the peculiarities of the Ego engine. I think the point is that the gameplay takes precedence over eye candy, but CM seem to have made some curious design decisions nevertheless.
I just thought. I criticise CM's knife texture but do real world soldiers carry around blackened knifes to stop reflections ?Commandante Poet-Soldier -{[Another-World-Is-Possible]}-

Re: Another Review - from player.
This review has me considering a purchase... haven't played anything consistently at TG since BF2 Tac Mod then Red Orchestra... :P
Just upgraded to a new i5 system though...It is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9/NIV
