Re: Patch and DLC
Posted on the 27th at CM
Whilst we hope to get the PC patch out the first week of November, we haven't released the specific date yet as we still waiting back from MS and Sony regarding a date they can commit to for rolling out the title update on the consoles. This so we can put out the release dates for all 3 platforms at the same time, meaning that the community as a whole knows when each platform is getting the patch/title update for that persons respecitive platform.
Please note that the above does NOT mean that the PC patch release date is dependant on MS or Sony, that is not the case at all and the PC patch will be released as soon as it is ready. It does also not mean that the list of fixes in the patch/title update will be identical from platform to platform.
Hope this clears things up a bit.
Regarding the patch/title update fix list, it's still being finalised so unfortunately I can't release it yet. My personal apologies for this as I know I said I'd try and get it out before today.

Re: Patch and DLC
thx...
Someone wake me up when the patch is out... I'm growing tired of the game already, and following it... lol...
Maybe they will release it 11/11/09... they won't have to worry about bandwidth then... till players get tired of CoD MW2, and go back to OFP DR.
Just my cynical 2 cent guess.

Re: Patch and DLC
As long as gamers continue buying unfinished games, developers will keep ripping us off. I will wait at least two weeks after release before I buy anything from now on.

Re: Patch and DLC
Yes, waiting for a patch can be hard. Especially for all of us that are part of the "Instant Gratification Nation", but keep in mind the time lines of some other familiar titles:
Code:Battlefield 2 COD4 MW Released June 21, 2005 Released Nov 6, 2007 Patch 1.01 July 6, 2005 Patch 1.1 Nov 15, 2007 Patch 1.02 July 16, 2005 Patch 1.2 Nov 21, 2007 Patch 1.03 Oct 4, 2005 Patch 1.3 Dec 7, 2007 Patch 1.12 Nov 22, 2005 Patch 1.4 Dec 19, 2007 Patch 1.2 Feb 14, 2006 Patch 1.5 Feb 1 2008 Patch 1.21 Mar 10, 2006 Patch 1.6 June 4, 2008 Patch 1.22 Mar 23, 2006 Patch 1.7 June 27, 2008 Patch 1.3 May 23, 2006 Patch 1.4 Sept 5, 2006 Patch 1.41 Nov 16, 2006 Patch 1.5 Sept 1, 2009
Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising
Released Oct 6, 2009 North America- a few days later in Europe
Patch 1......
We all wish time would go faster but the games are more complicated and most titles are now tasked with tackling multi-platform issues. Keep your fingers crossed, but this game is still "new".
With that said, if we do not get a patch within a few weeks, you can torch me then.

Re: Patch and DLC
The activity on the forums seem to be dieing off some, once you have finished single player missions there's not much else to this game. multi player pretty much sucks so nobody seems to care about making missions, the smell of death is in the air for this game, for the pc anyway.
Hard Core. Old School. Deal With It.

Re: Patch and DLC
The activity on the OF
R forums has plummeted!! 2 months ago there was a post every 2 minutes. Now a post will stay on the first page of the PC section for 6 hours at least.
I hope we get a patch by the end of next week as they said they are trying to do. I fear that the next patch will be very far off. So, I hope that it includes a few well needed fixes and the game becomes a little more playable.
the meat and potatoes of the game is incredible. But if they can't get it up to par on this patch, I fear it may be lights out.
I'm hopefull. I hope that this patch fixes the hit not registering issue in MP. fix the ability to change weapons more smoothly. sometimes it locks up. Ok, most of the time it locks up. I need to be able to tell how many people are in my jeep so I know when to take off from the spawn and not leave people behind. In hard core, remove the red dots on the map. Allow Join in progress, at the very least between maps. increase the voice level of in game voice chat.
That's it. fix those and I'll be happy with the first patch.

Re: Patch and DLC
Don't mean to be a party pooper, but I have to get it off my chest.
I was having fun playing BF2 on June 21,2005. The bugs of yesteryear have mushroomed into excuses for releasing unfinished broken games. I have never seen a release in this bad a shape. They didn't finish the game because they didn't want to spend the money. Now that the game went platinum or whatever are they going to spend some of that cash on fixing everything. Or are they going to take the money and run. Rinse, wash and repeat. We shall see, but based on the trends of the last few years I remain doubtful.
If I bought a shiny brand new car, and it broke down on the way home. And after looking under the hood I find that half of the components are missing or damaged. I wouldn't trust the negligent manufacturer to fix it. I would get my money back. Because of copy protection laws we can't get our money back and the devs are exploiting that fact. They hype the title and then play the bug fix card till everyone forgets about the game. This is BS and they should be sued.
-End rant.
(reserves right to change mind in the near future.)

Re: Patch and DLC
What 's funny is that they blame piracy for the way pc games are developed these days. Imo this is exactly what 's causing the high amount of downloads these days... they 're just not worth the cash anymore.
It 's like paying full price for a car that only has 3 wheels... it 'll drive but you won't get very far.
If the first patch fixes the most annoying issues (mouse bug, hits not being registered,...), I 'm sure some people will pick up the game again... but we all know where this game is going if they don't release dedicated server files. The fact that they are so quiet on that subject, probably means we 're not getting any.

Re: Patch and DLC
So, are you saying that if you don't like the product, piracy is justified?
Also, I've seen the car analogy used many times on the official OFP forums and it doesn't make sense to me. A car with only 3 tires, or half an engine, won't actually work, but OFPDR does actually work, so I think that is an unfair analogy. If you want to make a car analogy, I would say something like buying a discounted truck with a very low towing capacity. The truck works, including all the components within it. But part of the point of buying a truck for a lot of people is to tow things, and the truck isn't very good at that. But then again, there are some people that just want a cheap truck.

Re: Patch and DLC
Sure you can drive on 3 wheels... it 's like playing OFPDR where you pump 3 clips in someone and he 's still standing
.
I 'm not justifying piracy, I 'm just saying games shouldn't be released when they aren't finished. We should not be paying to play a beta, certainly not full price.

Re: Patch and DLC
Look, I'm not saying that CM didn't let a lot of people down. I'm also not saying that you don't have good reason to express your disappointment. I think you do.
But I think a lot of folks are taking that disappointment and extracting all these claims out of anger that aren't justified. For one, the game did launch at a discounted price of $40. Very few people on the CM forums seem to want to take that into account.
Two, if you ask most game developers, a game is never "finished". What constitutes finished? No bugs? That's never going to happen. All the features that everyone wanted to see in the game? Also, never going to happen. A "finished" product is simply one that the maker of that product decided is "good enough" to compete on the marketplace and "good enough" that people are willing to buy it. You can always spend more time and money improving a product, but you have to draw the line somewhere and start selling it. CM made a choice to do that. They have taken a lot of criticism for making the wrong choice.
There are all kinds of possible reasons CM could have had to release the game the way it is. We don't know what those reasons are. But the reason that I highly doubt is the one I've seen most argued: that they simply don't care about their customers and were trying to milk a "quick buck" out of everyone. That's just not how the world works. It is not an economically feasible strategy to stay in business. CM has been making games since the Super Nintendo era. They obviously want their business to succeed over the long term.
So again, I think you have every right to be disappointed, but don't let that anger cloud your reasoning. It's just not worth it.

Re: Patch and DLC
The MP aspect for this game is already dead and sadly this patch won't do anything to bring that aspect back to life. Until they offer dedicated server support and more setup options, the game will never reach its full potential.
