I'm coming around to this game

I bought the game on launch day and have played it a little almost every day since. The more I play, the more problems I find and the more things I add to my wish-list, but I also like it more and more. Playing around and experimenting with the squad commands is important and takes time because the game doesn't give you a good tutorial on all the different commands that are available and exactly how they work. There are a few tips that pop-up during the first mission, but you don't really get an in-depth lesson on how to use all the different commands effectively like you did with Ghost Recon which is unfortunate because you can achieve quite a bit with the command system.

We all want a smoother multiplayer experience and the addition of dedicated servers, but most of the things on my wish list are pretty small. I would say the thing I want most right now is the addition of a "target" command for the squad AI so that I could tell each of my squad members which enemy to target, put them in a good tactical position, and then have them all fire in unison, hopefully taking out 3 targets at once.

I also wish the move commands showed up for other human players in coop mode. I'm having a real problem when I want my human squad members to move somewhere that I have to explain it over the mic which can be a little frustrating.

At first, like many of you, I was appalled at the lack of lean controls when I fired up the game for the first time. But I've since become used to it and I don't really miss them that much to be honest. I haven't done any indoor CQB yet, but I've been able to use building corners fairly well without the lean controls. I've also found that without relying so much on peek & shoot tactics, I've had to make better choices about tactical positioning which has been a ton of fun.

I still wish I could bind squad commands to specific keys without having to use the radial menu. When I do get out-flanked, I'm finding it really tough to come up with a plan and navigate the radial menus while trying to move into positions of cover. Voice control in-game would be great, but there are 3rd party tools out there like voice-commander that will press the buttons for you if you set up the script.

And finally, how cool would it be if they adopted the in-game command scripting that you were able to do in old-school Ghost Recon? You can achieve movement waypoints, setting up a full script of detailed commands isn't possible.

Re: I'm coming around to this game

I think this game has a bright future ahead as long as CM does what it has to do. The community has already made lists of the things that needs to be fixed/changed/added.

It 's all in CM 's hands now...
