about the future/support...
Just sharing some news I got, and my opinion on the current state of this game.
Still playing and enjoying the hell out of the SP campaign, and 4 player co-op... force on force for both PC version and the 360 version is currently un-doable IMO. (I imagine the same for the PS3)
BUT have faith, unless I'm being outright lied to, I have a source on the inside of this development team who says they are listening and working on the first patch that should be out soon. This contact has sworn-ed and promised me that Codemasters will be fixing, supporting, and releasing customer wants for this game. the quote: "Codemasters plans on supporting this game like no other video game... ever".
So we will see... just better not wait to long because I know where I'll be 11/10/09. lol (at least for a couple of months... I bore easy, lol)
Maybe the best thing for this game is to shelf it for 60 to 90 days then re-visit it. (if you have a personal problem with the game right now.)

Patch is good, but a dedicated server would be even better. Any insider details on that?

I agree with magnum's sentiment of leave it for a while and come back latter
in fact when dedicated servers eventually arrive, then this game will be golden for TG

Re: about the future/support...
In the mean time though we can get ready for DS, get somegood missions together and such. It may not be ideal but it's what we've been dealt:/

The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men.

Re: about the future/support...
yeah, the main thing that dedicated servers bring to the table is a more stable experience in terms of ping/lag. If they add dedicated servers AND join in progress, then it also makes it easier to get a game going.
That being said, lets see how this patch works out... it may eliminate some of the lag/ping problems currently plaguing MP.
Also - we're going to be setting up some weekly events to help people connect. We're also putting something together for this... so stay sharp

Re: about the future/support...
I've honestly had zero problems with lag or what not once I get in a server for co-op. It's codemasters damned menu system where I get all the lag and want to punch someone/something.
I even played on a listen server with 15 people for MP where the lag was well within "acceptable parameters". You have to figure you need about 15 kbs upstream/client.
But ya, I'm going to probably put this game down for awhile once I've finished the co-op portion for a few months, then come back when they've fixed the bugs and added new support.

Re: about the future/support...
Contrary to what I said earlier I stuck doggadly to it and finished the sp misions but I am not even interested in going any farther without dedicated server support. Onto the stack of so so games it goes, not the trash can yet.

90% of the games I've hosted have been just fine. Teamwork has been good.

Re: about the future/support...
That has woked for me. Find a group of friends/regular players that you can host or be hosted and there are no lag problems. One main thing is the ISP upload speed. If you have it, then hosting should be fine. It helps to get by for now, but dedicated server support is the key.

Re: about the future/support...
If they're not gonna do dedicated servers then I'd really like to see at least the Co-op opened up a little. If it's possible to do 8v8 PVP on the PC at the moment then surely we could have at least another fireteam in Co-op.
I think with 8-12 human players in Co-op against AI would result in some really excellent teamplay, especially if the tether was fireteam specific, one team could be taking down a radar at one end of the map whilst the other team was taking out Sams, 2 players in a cobra providing CAS and another 2 players in the MH-60 doing hot drops and pickups.

Re: about the future/support...
I don't see what's in such dire need of fixing or patching, the gameplay right now is very solid. I have no complaints in regards to the gameplay at all, whats killing the game for me is that TvT battles are pretty bad due to the lack of dedicated servers and no option to lessen the size of the forces in battle. Everything else is about as close to perfect as it's going to get. Has there been any word on exactly what they want to fix? I hope they don't take the game in the wrong direction by changing things that don't need changing.

Re: about the future/support...
They have not commented on exactly what they are going to fix. I konw that they are addressing the hit box detection error in MP and hopefully fixing the livelink problems that some have with editor. I agree with you though that the gameplay is solid and what they really need to do is add DS and expand the content of the game itself and open it up for easier editing and modding.
