I cant add TG members :(
because my keyboard is an absolute pain in the arse to use key wise I cant put the wierd line symbol into the add friends list and i cant do what i did in bf2 which was cut and paste it off this site

Maybe use another el-cheapo keyboard to input names? Or you could find a macro program to insert the names on a certain key-press possibly?

Try shift and the key next to the z key, that's how I got it. It is actually marked like two vertical lines one above the other but it does put the line in.

All special symbols can be added using the ALT function:
Just hold ALT (in my case the left one) then type the proper code (using the numpad) and voilà!
For the | its Alt+0124
