Hosting problems
Have any of you guys had problems hosting games. I seem to be able to join games without any problem but the minute I try hosting a game nobody can connect to me. "Connection failed" messages.
I use a Belkin Modem/Router (wired connection). I'm not that technically competent but I've tried port forwarding and I've tried DMZ (not sure if I set this up corrrectly) but it hasn't made any difference.
Just lost off with it now any ideas why I can join but not host games?

Re: Hosting problems
Are you sending invites from a passworded server? That sometimes stops me from hosting.

The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men.

Re: Hosting problems
you have to open the required ports first, (at work so can't tell you them)... but what I do is put my router in DMZ mode just for the duration of the hosting... which opens all your ports.
Of course make sure you don't have another firewall up, like Windows default... or sometimes your virus detection.Magnum

Re: Hosting problems
I'm having the same issue as well, I can connect, but it doesn't seem like anyone can join my room. To make matters worse I can't access my router to change any settings. The last time I took my router off of restricted the internet stopped working all-together until I changed it back.

Re: Hosting problems
if you can join games but can't host... it's definitely a port or firewall issue... because I can join any games, but to host anything have to open ports... most games have 2 sets, sending, receiving.
or something like that, no expert... try this turn off firewall, have friend coonect... if no put router in DMZ mode... if still no then we got a deeper problem.
(have i mentioned how great consoles are on connecting to games, lol)Magnum

Re: Hosting problems
This post that looks like a quote from the Codemasters forum said it is 9103.

This article says it is 9105.

That is supposed to help you interact with the master server, but I have also seen articles that go back to firewall settings for hosting games. I have 9103 forwarded and may try 9105 also.
Little things like allowing incoming pings or enabling UPnP (Universal Peer to Peer Plug and Play) may have something to do with it. I have UPnP enabled and it works for me but it is probably more complicated than that depending on what type of router you have.
EDIT* just found this on PortForward that says it is 8080,9103-9105. This is for my router (bottom of page), others may vary in the setup.
