Alternate to VPN
Reading the CM forums, I came across this nugget. It's not necessary to create a virtual private network as you can connect to the host IP using the Lan in game. So for private matches, it removes the listen server from the equation and should help promote stable pings and reduce the load for the host. We'll have to check this out.
TexasTwister and I verified that this is a viable option and will be using this, this afternoon for the GT#2 event. Make sure you show up in TS early enough to learn the IP address and good luck to all.Last edited by LpBronco; 12-13-2009 at 02:16 PM.

It worked out pretty good...the connection was stable and lag free
