Operation Flashpoint: Capture the Island

I can't say that I was pleased to be picked for this assignment. Perhaps, going back a few years when I was less experienced and eager I might have been excited, but now, after many battles and many injuries, I'm getting too old for this ****. What is it they say? There are old pilots and there are bold pilots, but there are no old, bold pilots.

The russians had been making rapid advances over the Island chain. Everon had fallen, and now they were pushing towards Nogova. This is where the line was to be drawn, and their advance halted. We didn't have a lot of time. We needed to insert, set up base and get out there.

As base commander it was my responsibility to construct the facilities to aid the field commanders in their execution of orders. Choosing the right spot was imperative, and making sure the base was functioning ASAP would need some careful planning. Still, at least I wasn't on the front line anymore. Been there, done all that, someone else's turn. Field would just have to get out there and kick it without me, though I may just turn up at the party a little bit later...

Capture the Island has got to be one of the best, if not THE best mod out there for Operation Flashpoint. This game has it all and can be played Cooperatively, or TvT style. Build bases to build troops and armour. Plan your strategy, secure your resources and defend against counter attacks - it has it all.

This weekend saw CTI played out practically the whole weekend for me (other than some Ghost Recon in between). It can be quite a complicated game (playing as base commander), or a more simple game (as a field officer) that requires you to engage the enemy. Whatever role you take though, it will be one that requires your whole attention with little time to put your feet up.

Because this is such a good game, I would like to see this played once a month here at TG. There is a lot of interest out there but places are limited. CTI only supports 9 players coop, or 18 tvt (9 per side), and games can literally last for hours.

For tactical players who like it a little bit more serious than your arcade lovers, this really is the FPS to play, and CTI is the mod to have. If you think you have what it takes, reply to this thread and add any comments that best describes OFP for you.

Thanks,

Re: Operation Flashpoint: Capture the Island

Here's to another weekend of CTI gaming. The WG mod isn't too bad with CTI. It's got some cool features but it's a framerate hog!
