Discussion: Operation Flashpoint / Operation Flashpoint - General Discussion - Nobody plays - Was there ever a time when lots of TacticalGamers played OpFlash??
the problem is that there is so many mods, missions, and packs that it's hard to get a properly coordinated, properly matched game... I play strictly SP now... but soon is the Allied Assault game... that should get everyone matched again... at least for a while or until OFP2 comes out.
I played this game on gamspy before i discovered TacticalGamer and it was great fun. It would be so cool to get some TGs playing again, using teamspeak or whatever.
I guess we will probably have to wait for the next couple of OpFlash games to come along though.
We used to have quite a strong OFP following at TG. But it did end up just falling by the wayside. Once Allied Assault comes out I would expect to see a strong following coming back to it and I would also expect to see a dedicated server for AA at TG.
Diplomacy is the art of saying "good doggie" while looking for a bigger stick.

Just got back into OFP myself and havent had much luck finding any MP...mostly interested in the coop stuff.
I can see where all the mods can make it difficult to be on the same page. But if anyone is interested in any MFCTI or Afgan Dynamic I would love to jump in on it.
OOooh you jsut wait. Once AA come out I'll be all over like a rash, as long as it holds up to the original.
As for OFP now, have you guys heard of the CTI game?
Capture The Island
This mode pits 9 commnaders vs. 9 commanders. This can be either TvT or Coop (the other side is played by the AI).
Usually we do coop and the game works like this.
First thing to make sure is that you have around 2-4 hours to spare, it really is an event.
The game starts with one guy picked out as the base commander. The base commander can make structures. Structures a re built so you can make troops, vehicles, helo's, support, etc) If your base gets taken out, you loose the game.
The other players are officers. They can spawn troops at the barracks building (made by the commander). The officers then move out to capture towns held by the resistance or the enemy.
Once you hold a town you get cash for it. So you leave you're AI guys to guard it. You may fortify a town by putting up emplacements. You can then move off to other towns.
The game ends when you locate the enemy base and take out the command vehicle and base buildings.
CTI's are great fun. There's a whole war going on and things can get very hairy, very quickly. If you guys have never played one before we should definitely get a game going sometime.
It's like playing command and conquer from the ground.
Yeah I think I have played a game like that before using gamespy. The games I was in didnt last all that long because all you had to do was find the enemy base and destroy it. Once a helo or fixed wing knew where the base was he would lay into it with FFAR or any other weapon and turn your base into a smoking crater.
Your version sounds much better.
I really hope the multiplayer in the next OpFlash games are good. At least the IDEA for the single player is incredible. A continuous war going on and you are are free to move to different areas. It would be great if they could do something similar for the multiplayer.
For something a bit different there is the COIN based stuff (think thats what its called).
The nice thing about it is that its like a continous threater with random mission objectives. You have a main base that you work out of and for a mission you talk to the CO. From this point you can either load up vehicles and drive out to it, or be inserted or paradroped into the area. You can also call in artillery or CAS...as well as medvac's for wounded. Once you're mission is complete you can call for extraction.
Progression is based on popularity with the people...call in artillery on a city and lay it to rumble wont help with winning over the people hehe.
Even for SP I highly recommend it....as the map really adds some great atmosphere.
I'm in a clan and we're curently looking for recruits if anyone would like to join. This is my first time here so forgive me if trying tio look for recruits is prohibited here, I'll need to go back and read the rules a little more thrurohly. Anyways we're VFFSquad and we are a serious COOp and live fire team. We don't use cheats at all, sorry for all you who do use them. SO if you are looking for serious gamers to play co op's with drop on by.

This sounds VERY interesting. It sounds like some sort of persistant world within OFP? I think i'll have to check it out to understand properly.

It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:

Took a gamble and got a refurbished 30 GB OCZ Vertex 1 off of NewEgg for the low, low price of $30. Had some trouble getting the drive to be recognized by Windows or by my BIOS. Had to use a jumper...
It has been almost 6 months now and I am still waiting for the second peer-review report to come in for my next book (this one is on the future of television).
Things usually unfold faster than...
