Here are some Operation Flashpoint movies I captured to give you guys an idea about the enhanced visual quality (with community mods) of the BEST tactical military simulation game ever.

Remember that due to video compression there is some loss in visual quality (Let me know if you know a better video codec, I didnt get good results with DivX so I used WMP)

Thx Duke.

Correction
-----------
Some of the chopper scenes were from "Apache Attack" mission, not from "Ground Assault". I edited the post.

Re: Operation Flashpoint (w/ mods) Movies

you really like OFP... which is nice, but to answer your PM, OFP is hard to be active in, even with programs like OFPwatch... just to many add-on's and modifications... and then the ability NOT to join a game in progress hrts it bad... Armed Assualt is said to correct all these problems, and should create a better, bigger following. IMO.

Re: Operation Flashpoint (w/ mods) Movies

You are right Magnum there are so many mods out there but if you are following OFP scene you already have all of the best ones like FFUR, FDF, BAS, BW, ...

I can gladly provide assistance on which mods to choose and install, how to install, which sites to follow, how to play OFP, etc for new players, i.e. I am ready to offer one day of the week for such an orientation program.

When it comes to joining an ongoing game I guess I like it better this way. Games like OFP is more enjoyable if you make plans and organize before the game. This requires people to come together before the game, have a briefing, make plans and then use them in game. Just like a real military operation. We can rotate a player to be commander each week. A game organizer. He finds good missions, makes a simple plan, gives the briefing...

The best online experience in my opinion is the one that is well-organized and executed (with serious and focused playing).

Re: Operation Flashpoint (w/ mods) Movies

those are nice video clips, I see that most are default missions... but a few were new... any good mission packs that you can recommend to get the most out of those mods?

I have the mods but only default or included missions, I know where to get more missions but they always seem to be requiring some add-on I don't have... I'd like to find some nice new missions for those mods.

Re: Operation Flashpoint (w/ mods) Movies

Have you played FDF and Revolt 1998 campaigns Magnum? If not I would start with them. I also liked Invasion 44.

I am checking out Blue Sky campaign right now. The best place to find info about missions is (as you probably know):

OFP Mission Depot
http://www.ofpec.com/missions/view_type.php?type=1

and sort them by rating.

I am taking notes as I play new missions, campaigns, etc and will post my favorites later on.

VERY IMPORTANT REMINDER: SAVE YOUR GAME
----------------------------------------------------
I recommend using "save" cheat during missions and campaigs by pressing Left Shift + keypad minus and then typing savegame. You can save your game more than once in this way. I dont like using cheats in games but for games like OFP, you make a lot of preparations (formations, etc) and if you fail due to an AI mistake you really get disappointed.

Re: Operation Flashpoint (w/ mods) Movies

I've played FDF, but never heard of the Revolt 98 campaign.

Ya, I visit ofpec often, just hard to find the good missions with the right add-ons.

Yeah, the addons are out of control. It seems like thats what most people like to do. Make a bunch of cool vehicles, weapons, islands ect..., but then there is nothing to do with them. Its kinda silly.

Re: Operation Flashpoint (w/ mods) Movies

It is great to see you guys having interest in OFP. Please check out the thread called TG / OFP Group.

For the best experience, we should first work on some basics. Communication standards (teamspeak), how we will play a typical coop-mission, a typical CTI game, etc. We need preparation for a good game, it is not as simple as getting together and launching a mission. I am sure you would also enjoy it a lot if we play it as a "role playing" style, i.e. as if we are really that military unit in the mission using SOPs and limit the conversation to the mission related things.
