Modded UP OFP vs. BF2 ?

I have been reading how great and cheap it is to buy OFP now and UPGRADE it with many Mods to improve EVERYTHING - - - - - when ALL this is said and done - - - - Is OFP as good or better than BF2 (which is my present addiction)? Is Single Player (AI) etc. BETTER than SP BF2? When latest upgrades are added to it are the Graphics as Good?

Please advise???

I dont think you can compare the game play in any way really. Graphics wise I think BF2 looks better but my computer sucks so I dont really know. The AI in OFP is really good, never played SP BF2 so I dont know how good that is.

Re: Modded UP OFP vs. BF2 ?

Ok, given this thread, it has to be said that OFP's time is limited. It's not that the graphics are so outdated (particulalry with all the mods), but that the server is archaic. the minute ArmA comes out, we will convert over to that game.

That said: the co-op and sp missions and sp campaigns are quite challenging: the AI is smart, and does not let up for one second.

In addition, with mods like ECP and FFUR 2006, the game now has more weapons, vehicles, environments, and looks good.

Magnum50 has a great review over at SimHQ.

Re: Modded UP OFP vs. BF2 ?

I guess it depends on why BF2 is your favorite right now.
The graphics in BF2 are much better than OFP. The original OFP game is somethin like 4 or 5 years old. It doesnt have the flash that BF2 does. Nor does it have the bells and whistles like VOIP, squad level organization, mini map awareness. BF2 is a much faster paced game than most OFP games. Where BF2 is mostly capture the flag style play with little story line OFP has everything campain play with large story lines, coop missions, quick MP CTF or even 2, 3 hour MP large scale RTS like wars where you can build bases and really get into it.
The worlds in OFP are huge. And when playing on the larger OFP games there is no walking or running to other side of map, it would take to long and you would fall asleep doing it. Almost any world along with people plants and vehicals, can be created using editors. This is one reason why the game is so good. The AI have some gliches but for a game with this much scope they do preety good. An OFP feature allows you to command up to a 11 man squad with fairly easy to use key stroke combos to give commands. The commands are fairly detailed too.
OFP is really a great game. But so is BF2. It really is hard to compare the 2. BF2 is more in the arcade realm where OFP is more a simulator. It is like checkers to chess.
I would recomend OFP. For the money its still the best game I have ever played.

There's a review I did some time ago here:

http://www.tacticalgamer.com/game-re...r-edition.html

It's got some screenshots although this is with a number of older mods installed. But if you haven't see what it looks like, you can get some ideas in that review.

Re: Modded UP OFP vs. BF2 ?

SP, OFP wins hands down. Small-scale MP, OFP wins again. I have never had more fun playing any game, with just a few friends, than co-op OFP. Large-scale MP, BF2 wins.
The single player OFP is easily my favorite game ever, considering I still fire up single-player missions on a weekly basis, even though i have had the game since 1999, when I ordered the euro version from England months before it was available in the US. best war sim ever.
