Re: Tactical Girlfriends
Thanks everyone! I'm really excited. Clearly my colorful personality has to have been the selling point.

Re: Tactical Girlfriends
Nice background in the shot. Is that a studio or a real natural background? I'm guessing southwest mesa, but also could be a cliff at a beach, with the right lighting, maybe at sunset with lots of orange.

Re: Tactical Girlfriends
We were actually making our way out of a local cave. She had never been inside of a cave before (she loved it) and I thought it would be a cool place to propose.

Wow, spelunking hadn't occurred to me at all! You'll have to take her to Carlsbad for your honeymoon.
I took a driving tour of the southwest and much preferred Carlsbad to Colossal in the way it was run. Colossal was more a "tourist" cave ("Look! That formation looks like Elvis!") while Carlsbad has a more geeky feel. (One should avoid touching formations because the oil of one's hands interferes with the way they form, and a single touch can destroy centuries of buildup.)
I'd also recommend the lava fields in northern California (site of the explosion of an ancient volcano) and the various lava formations of Hawaii, including a neighborhood lava tube in Hilo underneath a suburban park. (It comes out in an orchid field.)

Carlsbad is really cool but you should see Karchner. They opened it a few years ago (it is near Tucson) and it is amazing. Not as big as Carlsbad but it is in such good shape. Colossal is cool but definitely way too touristy. Either way, I sort of enjoy exploring caves without a guide and this is the nicest of the three in the area that I know of that can be explored without one. The lava tubes near Flagstaff are really cool but I prefer limestone because of the cool formations.
