Heavy transport ship stranded

This ship got stranded at a beach near where i live last night, it's carrying 5 large and 1 smaller containercranes. Should be pulled free tomorrow afternoon. Thought it makes a nice picture to show you all.

Re: Heavy transport ship stranded

When I saw that I pictured how it would look if it stayed there and washed up further.. and suddenly humanity disappeared and it was covered in primates and exotic birds.

Re: Heavy transport ship stranded

Yeah it is isn't it.

BTW its finally free now after 3 tries. They did not have enough pulling power on the first try, though some major pulling was done...check the following link:

After 2 tries they managed to turn the bow into the sea:

Turned and free at last (check the wideness of that load):

Just a nice picture:

Awesome shots Eva. Was there any word on how it got that close to shore to begin with?

Re: Heavy transport ship stranded

Yes mate.

Itwas caught in a severe storm (gailforce 10) and with the hight and widness of its load the ankers started to skid across the sand. Even firing its engines up could not generate enough power to keep it from stranding.
Sad part for the crew was, they travelled all the way from China with those cranes and were stranded literaly 500m from the location the cranes were meant for.

No blame for the captain or crew afterwards, as a matter of fact they were told 'good job'. Just one of those things that happens I guess.
