Before I played it, I thought it wasn't something I'd like, because I liked SF-oriented games (Tribes 2, Quake, UT2004) and this was a wussy game about gnomes and elves and guys wearing dresses with wands. But it turned out that what I liked was complexity and strategy, and
WoW in fact has a wealth of that.
You don't see it that much in
TG's forums, but there are other sites where
WoW players do extensive analysis of the game. My favorite is the newsgroup alt.games.warcraft, but there are also forums dedicated to single aspects of the game, like
http://bigredkitty.net/ which just covers the hunter class, and
http://elsanglin.com/ which focuses just on the fishing profession in the game. (Who would have imagined that fishing could be such an interesting topic?!)
