Re: My frirends Nissan GTR
Nahhhhhhhhhhhhh still prefer my motors!!!!!!!
Damn it 5 now!
Here in the US -
Porsche 911 C4S "modded by Sharkwerks" So nooooooo that GTR wont eat this little lady for breakfast!
Plus a Land Rover Freelander for running around to Tahoe in!
In the UK -
My Group N+ Ford Escort Cosworth Rally Car (This little lady does spanky that GTR with a 0 to 60mph of 3 seconds dead! 6 speed dog box!
Plus my Porsche 968 Club Sport which I bought in 1996!
Oh and a Toyota Corolla for running around in!.....
and besides..... the Skyline GTR....is still.....a NISSAN! There is no doubt the Skyline GTR (the name the entire world uses) Is a great driving machine. i have had the pleasure of instructing a number of owners at various race circuits how to peddle those beasties truly quickly. But for me, they have wayyyyyyyy to much electronic trickery to the point that the driving skill required is significantly less than say...a 911 or a Ferrari. It's like drag racing...."Start engine...green light...floor it....stop"...oh my.....what a challenge, have never undertood the fascination.
Now this........this is a driving lesson with an "Evil" 911, the RUF Yellowbird from 1987, a Turbo monster that required the driver to prevent the beast from killing him, rather than some stupid computer!!
And.............. the ULTIMATE lesson in how to drive a car fast....Ari Vatenan at Pikes Peak with the monster 406 T16, One of the greatest drives of all time!!

I hear yah Gringo. It just doesn't happen to me either. I went because I was curious and knew that other people would appreciate the pictures. I have friends that race on tracks and I've been driven around in some nice cars really fast. I was just hoping to go out in the GTR. Looks like I might be a go this weekend
Tempus:
1) She works with me.
2) She is engaged. ;D

Re: My frirends Nissan GTR
Blackdog, that's awesome. I have a friend that's a driver on a race team that just finished a 968 build. Putting her through her paces as I type. And sure, the GTR is an electronic beast, but it does translate into an easy-quick ride. Coming out stock it is able to eat a lot of very expensive exotics, and that's what appealed to this purchaser. It was between the GTR and a 911 Carrera, and the GTR won. *sigh*
Anyway, they could DEFINATELY use some lessons in how to properly drive the car. I'm not confident in their ability to responsibly operate it--or to learn how. But that's not really my problem

Hhehehehehe they need to find a local race track and join a Trackday Club, I am sure there are plenty of instructors that would like to show them the mad limits of the new GTR!

Re: My frirends Nissan GTR
The 968 is one of the most underated Porsche's of all time! That photo was taken at the Porsche anniversary celebrations at Brands Hatch in England, where we broke the world record for the number of Porsches on a track at any given time. A car from each marque, 911, 944, 968, etc then did some demonstration laps. Mine has been "tweaked" by RUF in Germany and is 300BHP normally aspirated and so I was chosen to represent the 968 family. Through every corner I was all over the back of a 993 Turbo in front of me, that dropped me a bit on the straights, but round corners the 968 is a joy to drive with perfect 50/50 balance. The 3.0 litre 4 cylinder engine in the front, Diff, Gearbox and drivetrain in the rear.
This car is a "Drifters" dream and I am surprised more 968's are not used for this.

Re: My frirends Nissan GTR
SO... MANY... YUMMY..... CARS!!
1. Love the GTR - yes it is aided by electronics but in todays market so many are. It's amazing that Nissan can produce this car for the price and be competitive with Porsche.
2. Blackdog, you continue to surprise me with your vehicles A 4.0L four cylinder with 300hp - I would love to hear that engine rip through the RPM's
3. Pikes Peak video Scary fast but it is still a Peugeot

Opps, but still a 3.0L is large for a 4cyl and then the fact that it can spin up to 8K is crazy.
That 405 T16 looked like it was in fast forward at times, just sick considering the era of car. None of the current WRC drivetrain and traction management.

It's on sale now, and it's coming in at around 96K after taxes, title, and dealership mark-up.

OUCH!!!!!!!
That's an Expensive "NISSAN", give me a used 911 Turbo with a few mods anyday!
The boys at Sharkwerks who look after my motor, have Turbo's running a "comfortable" 700BHP! Now THOSE...are rocketships!
