While I love the octopus, it's a really busy background and hard to make out the icons. And the reason I dropped the 3-girl background is because I was told there was a boat in the picture and it was consuming all my time trying to find it.

I dislike "busy" pictures that make it difficult to see icons on my desktop so I usually go for simple landscape photos. Here is my current one:
I keep it centered on a black background so I have plenty of space for shortcuts on both sides of the screen.
